I used my accuquilt clam shell die and a layer to cut out this out last Saturday, so I'm glad to find your video! I'm trying to make myself learn curves now that I've accomplished triangles. Thanks for making a video.

Latifah, I took your Glam Clam class in King City a few years ago. I didn’t get much done so I put it away. During Covid I had no excuses so I got started again and finished it. I love it. I will try to send a picture through you website.

The autolift provided by the sensor system of many of the Husqvarna Viking machines makes this process even easier! No knee needed! The foot lifts automatically when sewing in "needle down" mode - every time you stop!

Hello Karen! Thanks for the comment. My new machine the Janome 9400 has this handy feature too and I love it! But, for this application it's best to turn it off and still use the manual knee lift. The reason is that most of the time you want to keep the pressure on the fabric and only take it off to adjust when needed.

fyi, if you lift your fabrics a little of the machine your curves will go together much easier. If you go to Eliesa's backporch she gives a a great tutorial on sewing curves.

Thanks! That's a great technique for certain applications and I use it sometimes! I've tried many techniques for piecing the clamshells and this one works consistently FOR ME. I've pieced more than a dozen and have taught hundreds of people to do it this way successfully. That's the beauty of quilting - there's more than one way to do things!

Your work is wonderful. Could you give one direction at a time and then demo it? It would be easier to understand the directions without so much extraneous chatter. Thanks for the video. Clamshells are my favorite. I cut mine with a sizzix die, using fusible web attached to the fabrics. Then I placed them carefully on the background fabric, fused them, then used decorative stitches around all edges. No piecing!

Thank you so much! The directions are detailed one at a time in the Glam Clam pattern. The video is just a supplement and this video has been replaced with a newer one as well. I hope that helps. Appliqued clamshells are beautiful! There are many ways to do the same things so we each can find our own rhythm.

Hi Daphne! There is a whole new series of videos that show how to work with the Clammy templates! There is information there on marking and pressing registration marks. Also, all the patterns have information on pressing reg marks.
