It’s hard for a lot of people. I can totally understand that. When I had my salon, I used to offer a “root and run” package where they could get their grey roots applied, washed and they would leave wet. It saved me loads of time and it saved the clients loads of money. You could always ask your stylist if she could offer that for you to save money long term.

Mine is marble so I’ve considered doing it in a ceramic tile guest bathroom instead but still nervous with staining. 2.) can you use semi permanent hair color on the gray roots to get some coverage in btw visits to the salon so it’s less damaging but knowing it just won’t last as long?

Hi Gabi 😊 I love you even more now (lol). I have been doing my roots at a salon for years - I was going every 3 weeks and all in, my total bill was $180. I recently decided to start coloring my own hair at home in between salon visits - my hairdresser noticed of course - the owner of the salon overheard our conversation, came over and said to me if I continue to color my hair at home don't bother coming back. So I never went back which is why I appreciate you and this video. Don't get me wrong, I have a ton of respect for hairdressers but it was just starting to get to costly and was hoping for other options rather than, don't come back. I also wanted to ask your opinion on the brand Herbatint - sold at Shoppers, is this a good brand? Thank you once again Gabi, have a beautiful day 💕
@GlamGirlGabi
@GlamGirlGabi Жыл бұрын
Wow are you serious?!? They told you not to come back? That is absolutely horrible. I just don’t understand that. I could see them telling you that due to the box dye, you may have limitations as to what you are able to do next with your color, but you should have never been sent away. That’s not right. People need to check their ego and their privilege. As for the color - I am so sorry. I use I could help but I’ve never tried it before.

@@GlamGirlGabi Yes she did - maybe she didn't think I would take her seriously, but when I asked her why she said it will compromise the results of their products. I started with root touch ups every 6 weeks, then once a month and about 2 years now it was every 3 weeks ( sometimes 2 if I had an event) - it was just getting too costly for me. It was a little embarrassing and she try to reach out to me over the summer but I am not sure what options she could provide me with that's why I am doing it at home for the time being - I am trying to see if I can find another salon. This is also why I am so happy I found your channel, and I appreciate you. So I have been using this Herbatint but I will try the brand you used today for future as I trust your recommendation more than I trust myself...lol. I don't know anything about coloring hair - but I'm learning. Thanks again Gabi - you are awesome ❣

I've been dyeing my hair for ages. Out of a box. I have very curly hair so I get away with a lot of mishaps. I color my roots every 4 weeks or so. You mentioned finishing up with a gloss on the middle and tips of the hair. How would I go about selecting a gloss to match or complement the dye color? I use L'Oréal Excellence Medium Brown F. Very neutral brown and so close to my natural hair color.

Hi, I have a question! How often can you dye your hair at home like this? I colored my hair 2 times with 3-4 weeks between those times, and I damaged my hair to the point it burned the ends off in the front of my hair :( I was coloring my greys with a box dye with my natural hair color. It washed off pretty soon so i wanted to do it again and then after a couple of months I realized I wasn't growing baby hairs, it was my "burned off" hair. Still not sure why it happened.

Can you do a tutorial on how to touch up roots when you want to maintain highlights?
@GlamGirlGabi
@GlamGirlGabi Жыл бұрын
Hey! You would do the exact same thing. You would paint the roots with your natural color in a permanent (keeping it as neat and tidy as you can and only painting the roots so you don't eliminate your highlights too far down) and you would tone the ends with a direct dye in a lighter color (like an ash blonde, honey blonde, etc.). When it comes to bringing the highlights back up, you would likely have to see your stylist.That is super complicated to do at home.

I found the Schwarzkopf in dark blonde but not in the Loreal le color Gloss plus it only lasts 10 days (not sure how many washings that is). Can I recommend a dark blonde I can put on the rest of my hair that (is fine & damaged). Last time I colored my hair, I lost handfulls of hair. Maybe because I had tried styling it with heat (& didn't know how to do it right) bc the developer was 20% which never fully covers my roots & a greyish area in back. I do have a semi-permant color that I tried b 4 & it lasted very well but no root coverage of course but I wasn't sure if I could do roots & the semi permanent at the same time. My hair is short so is was very hard to not get the 2 formulas overlapping! I guess do one 1st then the second 2 weeks later? Any ideas? (I'm 70% grey with damaged hair ( use Olaplex ea week) wavy, thin. I have to air dry cuz can't do heat. I've try sponge rollers. Miss my curls but my scalp shows through. 😩 Any ideas? I need help!

Hey! What do you mean by root smudging? Can you explain or even leave me a link where you saw that? I can look into it.

Before I ever dyed my hair I had dark brown hair. When I got gray hairs I started to dye my hair. I have certain areas on the sides of my head where I suffer from gray hairs. So it's not all over my head. I once made the mistake of painting it black and then brown again. I have curly natural hair. I really just want to touch up the gray areas. But I am afraid that it is now always possible to see a difference with the rest of my hair. I normally use Garnier Olia. I've used 2.0 and 4.0 but I think I should only use 3.0. What is your advice on this.

Do you include the application time in the total processing time or is it in addition to the application time? Thanks for all the great information. (I bought the ME color hair powder because of one of your videos. It is such a great product!)

Hey! I am so glad that you like that product! It is definitely one of my favourites! When you start your root application, that 45 minute timer starts when all of your roots are covered. So the front will likely stay on for 50 minutes if it takes you 5 minutes to apply. Start the timer the minute the root colour is applied evenly around the entire head.

Your very understanding. I am a special needs individual I can’t afford a salon . I also can’t drive . I have access to salon color. But I don’t know the hair color level system. I know salon color runs darker. Then box color. I wish I had can talk to a hairdresser about and she can guide me. I’m worried about going too dark.

Yes I understand the struggle. I am going to try to make a video all about color levels so that it’s helpful for more people. I think the level system can really confuse people.

If one has to use the grey coverage for the whole hair / head because never using a colour before... can I then use the gloss later for the upside of the gloss results? Very concerned about having a flat all over cover.

Hello so i jacked up my hair ive always gone to a hair salon but as ive gotten older my stubborn whites come out in 3 weeks so the time spent in the salon annoyed me. So I had a beautiful salon bayalage and attempted to do only roots but the medium brown box didnt cover them it just changed the shade to a wierd light brown color like hot roots so then 3 weeks later i bought another box but a cool dark brown and let it sit longer but the root color completely changed the bayalage look so i threw the remaining dye all over and now my hair is black. So A. What at home product with little to no damage will strip the black? B. How do i get my all over color a choc brown color. C. How do i get my white roots to match the all over color should i leave it on the roots longer or use a different color for my roots? Thanks for your help.

She looks gorgeous with curly hair too it just looked like a puff ball because I had to brush it out before applying the color. You can totally use the gloss on Auburn hair. You would just need to find a color in the line that would be complimentary to your hair color.

I bought the garnier nutrisse andwant to know if i can mix a small bit if color and developer as i only need to cover some gray and not my whole head. My salon visit is in 3 weeks so just need to cover my grays now. I know i cant keep the bottle of mixed colour and developer once they are mixed together. The box has a ratio of 1:1.5
