It really makes me angry that these companies would rather destroy items and throw them in a landfill instead of donate them to local shelters. There should be a law against this.

I was at my local Plato's Closet yesterday afternoon and the girls were taking clothing from the racks to the storeroom. I woke up about a few hours ago and went back out of curiosity. They tossed out 5 bags full of clothing and a box full of shoes. Nothing destroyed..some things with original tags. One bag has 3 Free People tunic tops. I would of went live because I want to make a channel on Dumpster Diving but I'm a bit nervous lol

It makes me furious that all these stores get away with filling our land fills with so much stuff. It’s disgraceful

Thank you saving all this stuff. It’s so heartbreaking these companies don’t once a month just drop off these items to charities or families in need

my local retirement homes love greeting cards and magazines as donations! residents use them for crafting :) just an idea if any of you are ever wondering what to do with excess cards!

Great findings again. Awww the Old Navy slicing the clothes, I have only twice found clothes there that wasn't slashed. Companies get tax write off deductibles so yes they. will intentionally damage or break items rather than give them away. You were fortunate to get only a few broken or damaged items.

I worked at a PetSmart and the reason these companies / their stuff is because if they don't they can't write it off as a LOSS. I mean sure would be wonderful if they donated it but it is better off for them to slice it and write it off as a loss then donating it. Let's just say I'm fortunate way it is

I live in kansas and they don't throw away anything, I have searched high and low, the only place I've had luck was a used book store. So, if anybody near joco kansas could tip me off, I'm so jealous, I'm living in the wrong place lol.

I believe the current tax code that gives them full reimbursement if they throw it away. If they donate it or give it away they either get nothing or far less.
