I like how the guy has a double bass just sitting in the background

You are the only other person I’ve ever seen that wears newsboy style caps with the brim slightly askew like myself. I respect the review and the swagger.

Thanks for the great review and for actually playing the bass like a bass.

Looks good and sounds pretty good. Many upgradable things here. The deal killer for me even at this great price point, is the neck dive, and that is inherent in the (usually) very light basswood body, relative to the weight of the sizeable 5 string maple bass neck. I’ve never managed to deal with bass neck dive very well, and don’t own one guitar or bass that neck dives, but otherwise seems like a great deal for someone who is less bothered by that phenomenon,

Thanks for this excellent review! Just found a new one on ebay for $88.00!! Can't wait to goof around with it when it arrives.

Hey dude, awesome review. And for $129, it's a no brainer. There's even a soft black plate between the steel plate to protect the body and neck. Many top end basses don't have this.

I just got my Glarry GJazz 4 string. I got the Burlywood finish. I have never had or played bass before, so I just needed something I could learn to slap on. It is a nice set-up, and maybe later I can upgrade.

Just ordered this exact bass! I'm hoping it'll sound and play as good as yours

I've reluctantly come to the same conclusion that I also need a fiver for my standard C guitar musings. A decent compressor will tame those volume dips in the pickups. I'm normally not a fan of Jazz pups. I usually lean towards P bass or bass humbucker style, but for $130?!! SOLD! It's hard to screw up a bass build, but that nut is kinda freaky. Thanks for the demo bro!

how are you liking the Glarry 5 string now? I love your style of review, no gimmicks and straight forward

I wish I woulda got the burly wood finish,I got the sunburst. I swapped the pickups with Wilkinson pickups,added a hi mass nickel bridge with locking zinc saddles, lengthened the 34 inch scale to 36 ,tightens up that floppy b string, I also messed with the pickup position on the neck pickup,if you take the pickguard off,the neck cavity is huge,you could put a music man pickup in it,that's how big the cavity is. I call it my super Glarry,lol oh ,the hi mass bridge fixed the neck dive 👍

Hi Aaron. I'm thinking about getting one. How's the weight? I have a SX 6 string jazz bass and that monster weighs 10.5 lbs. I'm too old for heavy basses.😂
@aarondavis43413 жыл бұрын
@@etpslick100 it's not heavy at all , especially considering it's a 5 string, I'm not sure the exact weight,but it's not anymore heavy than my MIM fender 4 string,I can play for hours without fatigue,usually when I'm playing something that calls for a B string,I'm like 😬😬🤬, because your average 5 isms HEAVY, but my Glarry,I get excited when I get to play it,for a cheap bass it certainly don't feel cheap at all👍

@@aarondavis4341 oh ok. Cool. Thanks for the reply. I’m looking for a 5 string just to practice and do some recording on. Happy holidays to you; thanks again. And Enjoy your bass.😌👍🏾

might use this as an upgrade platform, only thing stopping me is the neck dive, might just save up for a squier affinity or somethin

I was just gonna buy the Harley Benton music man like bass with the two pick ups but after seeing a couple of these Videos I’m buying this one buying this one and I’ll get rid of the B sting and toss on a high C for chords and Soloing. My honey bought me the black paisley Stratocaster for Christmas which I will be opening up Christmas. The Day after Christmas I’m ordering the Glarry

As I approach retirement from work, I am returning to playing bass and about three months into relearning. I have the Glarry 4 string GIB and the Glarry 4 string fretless precision. I never owned or played an expensive bass. What am I missing? No one on KZfaq covers the difference between the $2500, $5000, etc., instruments the professional musicians use verses the two $130 basses I own.

I love both my Glarry P bass and my Glarry J bass, they let me experience different styles of bass guitars without breaking the bank. I am really hoping they introduce a music man style body soon with a humbucker, maybe even a budget Rick? I'd buy both of them in a heartbeat.
@markknight64453 жыл бұрын
Me too. Snap them up quickly because MM and Rickenbacker will stop them in a HURRY .
@vincentmorelli10132 жыл бұрын
Could see them doing a passive MM style bass. No chance they'd do a Ric and get away with it. Closest you'll find on a budget is the Harley Benton and it's not a dead-on replica but it is Ric-esque.
@TexasRigged2 жыл бұрын
@@vincentmorelli1013 yeah that Harley Benton is on my "to buy" list lol, I ended up finding a No name brand Music Man copy at a pawn shop (literally not a single company name or anything on the bass). Potential ebay LS Custom shop build? Anyway it has a humbucker near the bridge like a MM and a single coil near the neck, music man body, pick guard etc.

I have this same bass and under the pick guard is routered out so you could put a humbucker in

I feel like every glarry guitar I've gotten my hands on feels VERY light in weight. Like too light, a lot of neck dive but also there are times you can get these instruments for $65 with tax and shipping like I did depending on the sale they have so I guess it's really not a big deal lol.
@AMAR-ym7sz2 жыл бұрын
Is it neck heavy, causing you to hold it up with your left hand????

People talk about neck dive. Lighter the body the more it's going to dive.

Would this be good for gospel, blues and funk or the other bass they sale?
@MusicNerdStuff3 жыл бұрын
Anywhere that a 5-string Jazz Bass would work...same general flavor of tone. If I was needing a bass for more old school funk/soul I’d opt for a P and probably not a 5-string. But that’s me. Plenty of folks covering all those styles on a J.
@chuckshipley99173 жыл бұрын
Jazz bass pick ups are configured to act as a humbucker. Turning one down makes them single coil.
@NickWeissMusic3 жыл бұрын
Nice clean playing, and that thing sounds like the tits. Remarkable balance for a bass at any price, you can pay literally 10-20X more for a Fender that's just a neck heavy with a garbage B string. Love the look of it too. I don't need Glarry, but I kinda want to make Glarry a part of my life.

The string/pickup alignment is way off,especially on the neck pickup.Bridge pickup not so bad but still questionable.Must affect string volume balance surely.
