Glass Animals - Black Mambo (Official Lyric Video)
Lyrics
What’ll it be now mister mole
Whispers sloth in curls of smoke
Take a back seat, or play pharaoh
Dance with me and shake your bones
Slow down
It’s a science
He’s been waiting to
Bring you down
Snake eyed
With a sly smile
He can hold you
And shake you child
Leopards laze each on plush pillows
Slender capes of red and chrome
Paperback dreams in their deep doze
Twitch their toes to black mambo
Slow down
It’s a science
He’s been waiting to
Bring you down
Snake eyed
With a sly smile
He can hold you
And shake you child
Wanna play cheat now says the sloth
A domino flush to his nose
Tickle that cheek and take your throne
Pump your veins with gushing gold
Slow down
It’s a science
He’s been waiting to
Bring you down
Snake eyed
With a sly smile
He can hold you
And shake you child
We can hold you
We can hold you
We can hold you
We can hold you
We can hold you
We can hold you
We can hold you
We can hold you

these guys have the formula right. I believe the correct way to write music is the way Glass Animals and Tool write. Complete the instrumentals, and write the lyrics and vocal melody to the already completed music. it produces the best results I've ever heard.

It's like they speak in lyrics. Someone like myself who references pop culture, movies, etc all the time. Maybe two sentences go by where it's not included, while contextually different from the lyrics of these artists, it's almost an expectation or lack of desiring you understand it... you just have to get it on your own terms. They as artists are both open to your interpretation but also dont want to have to explain the joke. I love tool, apc if not more, maybe even the deftones could be put on that same level with their lyrical principles. But idk... I feel maybe that's what you were getting at and I'm explaining it terrible in my own rationale... but yes... oh shit theres a "thumb up button".... should of just hit that...

I've contacted Tony Stark regarding the development of such a cloak. He enjoyed the idea at first, until he actually listened to the song. He then became a bit hesitant, fearing the cloak may evoke possible negative personal characteristics to the individual wearing it including, but not limited to: sauve persona, overconfident behavior and/or feelings of grandeur.... I'll continue to try and convince him.

(Wrote a story based on this so heads up!) Black Mambo, the way I envision it, it's like a slow clawing feeling. It's as if one is in a smooth bed barely covered by blankets, surrounded by jungle life, but each animal is lazy, from the sloth to the leopards relaxing on plush pillows. It ignites primal urges, but they tell you to slow down, it's a science. It's a relaxation yet comfortable and loving feeling, like one would be cuddling with a lover. But it's not the kind of feeling to lull you to sleep, while they keep you awake by their nails gently raking against your arms or with a slight and soft nip upon your neck. Have you ever been scratched on the back of the neck and have your hair stand up on end because of goosebumps? Or an itch that's finally relieved? It's like that. A primal, innate, instinctual feeling that drives someone wild with excitement, yet simultaneously calm like some sort of paradox. The voice sounds like a whisper, but at the same time, a beastly growl. It's a hypnotising noise, one that pushes all the right primal buttons.

It's full of esoteric meaning. "Take a back seat, or play pharaoah." Either run your life or let it be run. "Dance with me and shake your bones." Meet your fears, run straight for them, your subconscious has been waiting for you to shake the dust off, which comes from the emotional turmoil of living your life. Just like the song shake me down by cage the elephant. Same meaning somewhat. "Snake eye with a slight smile." Look up the "vesica pisces" symbol. You'll see the Snake eye he means in the center. This is sacred geometry, showing the relation of our conscious to subconscious, what some might call "the devil." Because it contains our hidden motives and desires if we don't care to look deep in ourselves. That's why he says "slow down, it's a science." Now when you do dig deep, you find a river of consciousness waiting to flow out. Like Taylor swift says "I'm lightning on my feet, and that's what they don't see." That's how we "play cheat" with life. Unlock the divine within.

tumi doan There's nothing wrong with that. It doesnt make a person fake. That one song might a person's favorite song that might help that person significantly hence why they might call themselves biggest fan out of appreciation. People shouldnt look at it as a competition though, who cares who is the biggest fan or if someone calls themselves that. Its not something to bother about or wish that a group doesnt hit it big time because other people will like them.

I feel like The Neighbourhood is more leather jackets, greaser haircuts, sad boys, quiet voice, and a gentle hand. For the Glass Animals, I feel like they're more psychedelic. Like a certain kind of chill feeling you get when you just woke up from a long nap, but in a good way. I agree that the Glass Animals are more colorful, they're like a kaleidoscope where the lyrics are cryptic and vague that everyone will find a different meaning. I love both bands, they're both amazing in their own ways

This is probably going to be a long comment but I've had this concept has been in my head for weeks: There are two layers to hell. The top is a dark, humid forest where snakes and animals roam free, this is for the people who were too impure for anywhere else. They lounge around and drink, they party and they lazily skinny dip in the many waterholes that litter the ground. There are people hanging from chains among the branches who perhaps are dead, or maybe they just like it there. It is humid, but life is grand. The second layer is for those who truly deserve to go to hell. It is a cold, dark cave that rests underground. It is deep and winding and deafeningly silent. The people there are hidden inside, laying in holes that are too deep to crawl out of or in cages of stalagmites. There is no escape from the Devil's punishments, she is a cruel woman with no remorse. She enjoys hearing them suffer, but chooses punishments quickly as to get back to the girls who wish to be with her. The people there bleed gold, it pools on the ground and serves as the liquid in which the people up top bathe. Perhaps they don't know it is the blood of the punished, perhaps they don't care. Edit: The reason the Devil is a girl is simple: I am a dumb lesbian and lady with sharp teeth hot

Johnwayne Wireman - wow very thoughtful comment, you should instead go and try to produce something, maybe an idea with your mind that keeps a random person on the internet engaged for a brief minute and even sparks new ideas like this dude. But no you instead make a super generic overused "JOKE" because you just cannot comprehend what you just read. It was actually properly, even well written, interesting, detailed and new. And you? what did you achieve here? Give me a break

Whispers sloth in curls of smoke
Take a back seat, or play pharaoh
Dance with me and shake your bones [Chorus] Slow down

He’s been waiting to
Bring you down
Snake eyed
With a sly smile
He can hold you
And shake you child [Verse 2] Leopards laze each on plush pillows
Slender capes of red and chrome Paperback dreams in their deep doze Twitch their toes to black mambo [Chorus] Slow down It’s a science He’s been waiting to Bring you down Snake eyed With a sly smile He can hold you And shake you child [Verse 3] Wanna play cheat now says the sloth A domino flush to his nose Tickle that cheek and take your throne Pump your veins with gushing gold [Chorus] Slow down It’s a science He’s been waiting to Bring you down Snake eyed With a sly smile He can hold you And shake you child [Outro] We can hold you We can hold you We can hold you We can hold you We can hold you We can hold you We can hold you We can hold you

I'm probably overthinking this BUT to me, song to me is like a warning not to get too attached to pleasure or it will take you away from the goodness of your life. It makes you feel like you've done something terribly wrong but you're in too deep to care. Like when you start falling asleep due to carbon monoxide poisoning. It makes sense when you really listen to the beat; it's overbearing, a little unsettling, but his voice lulls you to comfort. Kinda chilling, ya know? EDIT: I also interpret this as a battle between good and evil; with this song being evil (Satan) and Gooey (represents God, also by Glass Animals) and it's a "Which wolf will you feed?" kinda scenario. I'm definitely overthinking this.

The song is literally just about a game of domino's bweteen a sloth and a mole. he was originally gonna name it 'crystal meth' but someone showed him a documentry on it and decided not to do it. He was watching a breaking bad episode where the lead character uses his intellect for certain things, so he was just inspired by the show and that's probably it. There may be a meaning in it he didnt see, but it's meant to just be a intense game of power bweteen a sloth and a mole.

When I listen to this song what I see in my head is a story of Satan slithering on the screen in the form of a snake who then takes the form of a handsome man who then stalks a woman into a seedy bar. He temps this innocent looking woman with his charms and his "sly smile" and she's lured into his trap. He takes her home with him, makes attempts to bed her, she wants to resist but it's such a difficult task to resist such a tantalizing offer as he just charms his way into her pants. Then as they're in the throws of passion, he makes to "take her soul"; his eyes flicker to that of a reptile and he grows fangs and much like a vampire, he feeds on her. But soon her "innocent" red blood turns black and she sinks her nails into his back, clawing him as her eyes turn reptilian and she bites him back and drains him dry, escaping from under him. Then she leaves to the same bar after transforming into a snake herself looking all the more tantalizing than before when she changes back to human form but now her innocence is gone as she slinks into the bar again to continue the cycle, her eyes settling on an innocent looking male. I call it "The Dance of Lucifer and Lilith". I know; I'm weird.
