What really hit me was when he said "Listen up Suika, your nearsighted as hell, that not a disease, its not even a defect". I really teared up when he said that. When I was younger I was a bit ashamed of wearing glasses, but even to this day I'm scared to death of putting contacts in my eyes (plus my prescription is to powerful for contacts). This statement made me feel good and accepted about wearing glasses.

I have worn glasses since I was 15 for near sightedness. I tried contacts once, didn't like them. I now have grooves worn into my skull on top of my ears where my glasses arms sit. I have worn glasses so long, if I ever did switch to contacts I wouldn't recognize myself in the mirror. Anyone who wears glasses full time knows how important the style of glasses is to your face, a different style of glasses completely changes your face.

I always thought I had great sight, but somewhere when I was 15 I lost my "perfect" vision and didn't realize it till I put on my sister's lens. It felt weird realizing that I had lost out on seeing things more clearly and for the first time looking at trees like they were magical things with all their individual leaves clearer than ever. It was then when I first asked my mom to get me checked properly and I realized that I needed lens. It helped me set myself to get my own pair soon after that.

Senku may be really awkward and claim to only care 10-billion percent about science... but he didn't have to take Suika to a field of flowers before giving her her new "glasses". Behind the nerdy confidence and social awkwardness, he's a really thoughtful guy.

@kuuhakudesu 3 жыл бұрын
He's so genuine about his love for science that he goes overboard with the creepiness very often, but he knows science is there to help people, in an possibly infinite amount of ways. I feel like Senku's premise of "saving everyone" is often overlooked, because as a shounen, "of course he'll try to save everyone", but it doesn't make sense at first when you consider his "mad scientist" behavior. Gladly, he's consistently fleshed out by moments like these and we come to better understand him, which I think it's wonderful.

I've never watched this series before, but this scene reminds me of the saying "Look at the world through someone else's eyes." We all have those things we take for granted. Like having a place to call home, having the friends who'd do anything for you, or even being able to see clearly. These little things can mean the world to someone who hasn't experienced it for themselves. And when they finally have it, it brings them to tears. Maybe this girl lost her family, maybe she didn't have anyone to rely on. But through this small act of kindness, she now knows that she has friends who love her and care about her. They can see this world's potential. Now she can too Sorry for the sappy post but I really connected with this scene. It's so good 💕

Tbh we take for granted many advancements that have helped the disabled for nearly all of human creation. I recently saw KZfaq videos of children and adults Hearing for the first time. There are true tears of joy to know that you are able to partake in a sense you never had before or had a rough time using. Just now I've heard of some paralyzed patients may be able to walk again due to the advancements we've accomplished. Or that there may be a way to treat schizophrenia and auto immune diseases. It's not overnight but the progress is there and ingenious.

It's one of these moments from this anime that makes me tear up just like Suica-chan. I remember when I was that age around 1st grade needing glasses and for her to see the beauty of this world through the science of glasses is truly special to me.

such a beautiful moment. This and the song later on, are incredible. Anyone who didn't cry (or hold back the tears) should check their pulse; you can’t be a living human being and not be touched by this.

I was 11 years old when I first got glasses. From about age 9 I started getting really frustrated because I was sitting in the middle or back of a classroom, but kept getting low grades because I couldn't see the board. Didn't make the connection my eyes were bad until I told my parents about it. They got me glasses and when I put them on for the first time, I admit I got a little emotional too. Trees that were blobs of green and black were now vibrant, detailed, filled with such intricacy that I was speechless. Writing and letters were fascinating because they were now so sharp. I'm an artist now, and I love detail work. I still remember when the world was washed-out, muted and subdued, and so many people take for granted what it is like. To see the world clearly is an unappreciated gift.

I can relate with this scene so much. I have gone 20 years with the need of glasses and when I finally purchased a pair I literally saw the world through a new perspective. I've been watching anime without glasses for so long, and when I started watching with my glasses it was a whole new experience.

I still vividly remember the moment I first got glasses when I was little. Though my reaction was nowhere near as emotional as Suika's, I was nonetheless amazed by how clear everything was. There were sharp lines and minuscule details that I never knew could be visible. It really was a new world in front of me. I can't help but praise the Dr. STONE team for animating the essence of that moment.

shows like this and survival games are very enjoyable because i feel like it reminds us of all the work that goes into simple things that we take for granted. if you needed to you could go get your eyes checked and usually have a working pair of glasses in an hour today.
