Glastonbury Tor its Myths & Legends The Chalice Well & Glastonbury High Street!
Staying in Shaftesbury, Dorset, we drove over to Glastonbury to visit the famous Glastonbury Tor. Situated on a hill way above the Somerset Levels, (which have flooded many times over the centuries) it was known as Avalon. It's one of the most spiritual sites in England and legends and myths abound here! Visited by Romans, King Arthur and his Knights, (In search of the Holy Grail) Druids and believe it or not - Jesus Christ!
The Tower is all that remains of a 14th century church and a church before it, was destroyed by an earthquake. The summer solstice is celebrated here on June 21st. It would be quite an experience to be there!
The Chalice Well at the foot of Glastonbury Tor is a place of tranquility, mediation, peace and enlightenment. And the High Street is something else . . . Man!
