Just finished up the master bedroom accent wall using this technique. I ended up mixing two paint colors with the glaze I purchased at Lowe's to give it even more depth. It looks awesome. Thanks Woolie for the instructional videos.

I would recommend Satin finish paint. Not too shiny, but durable.

I did this, with a base color of fire engine red, rolled on and dried, then ruby red mixed 1/2 with glaze, dried and then chocolate cherry red mixed 1/2 with glaze on two 10' accent walls. I used less glaze because the colors are so deep and wouldn't show otherwise. It came out fantastic, everyone just loves it and wants to know how I did it!

Question. I have kids who like to color on my walls, and when I painted a sample board with this technique, after it was dry an area of the glaze coat was able to be wiped off partially with a household cleaner. Do I need to place a sealer coat over this when I'm done to prevent it from being removed? What are your thoughts?

Has anyone tried two different colors, not just shades of the same color. I have a base coat of med beige and want to put either grey or terra cotta over. I'm trying to match my bathroom tile which is beige, grey and terra cotta. I know I should use a darker shade but does it only look good in a variation of the same one?

My goodness. Come on folks have a little imagination. Names of particular paint colors are marketing wank. Look at the color and shade that she's using and get something that matches it that's it that's all there is to it you don't need the specifics of the exact tint mix formula. Come on like if you're doing a faux finish and you don't have any style or adventure in your spirit I highly suggest you hire somebody to do this because there is no exact formula or color to get a great faux finish it's really more about just letting it happen get some old paint that you have laying around mix some colors together and just have at it. Have a little imagination have a little fun stay away from home depot use stuff you already have. And actually I learned early on that you can just buy cans of paint like as if you were going to take it to have a certain color mixed up and then just don't have a color mixed up and just buy the base which essentially amounts to glaze instead of buying special faux finish glaze because that can be expensive and harder to find. I don't think it's necessary all the time. There are some specialty tools that can make it a lot easier like the wood graining tool that Woolie thing she is using looks neat I'll definitely like to try and then double rollers are something I use a lot.
