After Quinn runs out crying at prom in season 2, she runs after and checks on her in the bathroom. In season 3, when Quinn is a skank, Rachel tries to talk some sense into her. In season 3, Rachel convinces Quinn not to tell on Shelby and puck (or something to do with shelby) She cried after Quinn was in a wheelchair. She told Quinn she was the prettiest girl she ever met. She told Quinn what she meant to her at the season 3 prom. She comforted Kurt during the duet episode in season 2 by telling him he wasn't alone. She talked to mercedes in a night of neglect about how she doesn't understand why she's always the one picked for the spotlight. In season 5, she had an honest conversation about her first time with mercedes because Mercedes was concerned In season 3, she helped defend Santana from the creepy weirdo that was trying to "make her normal". She was the one who convinced the girls with boyfriends in season 2 to get them to tell karofsky to leave Kurt alone. Yes, Rachel can be a self centered diva, but so can every other character. And she has more selfless moments than say like Blaine.

Everyone cries in their own ways though. I mean it had less impact on me when Rachel cried after a while, except for the choke on her NYADA audition, as she did it so many times. Quinn had her moments but I'm not quite sure if it's so weird to be honest. Like I said, everyone cries in their own ways ^^
