I had heard that when he got much worse and didn't remember the names of family, he could still play the guitar and it was nearly the last skill to go because it was such an ingrained skill, much like a duck to water.

I recall a clip of him after he was placed in a care facility, flawlessly picking some rather complicated licks and just plain scales but very quickly. I've always regarded myself as being a decent guitar player, but I could never play some of what he was playing there on my best day. A Country channel just uploaded this one, a few days ago, something I've never seen before. Glen did a pretty good impersonation of Elvis, and of course plays to it, as well. Cal is a drummer, Shannon plays guitar, Ashley can play keyboards and just about anything with strings, but Debby only sings, and I don't mean that to sound like that's "all" she does, she has a nice voice when she does a duet with Glen. Listen to Ashley and Glen do Dueling Banjos ON HIS FAREWELL TOUR!!! As advanced as his Alzheimer's was at the time, he couldn't sing without a teleprompter, but he could still play a guitar like crazy. This is one of the videos from 2012 of Ashley and Glen "dueling", and no matter which one you listen to, he has fun teasing her by playing a few bad notes, but you can see how much fun he is having. In this specific video, you can see Shannon behind Ashley, but Cal isn't back at the drums. If you have never seen it, the documentary which includes a lot of singing, it takes you through the turmoil of living with someone with Alzheimer's. My mom had it, and it was so hard to watch her descent into hell as well as ours. If you want to hear something that will leave you smiling is an interview with Alice Cooper, you know...the hard rocker from the 70's? He and Glen played a LOT of golf together which I never knew, and Alice tells a hilarious story about how they got caught speeding because they were late for their tee time, and Alice says that picture got blown up and hangs on the wall at that police dept. as a joke, one that they all still laugh at. All of these great musicians that we keep losing left and right, just plain sucks. So much of today's music is not worth listening to, but I also said that about my mom's music on her radio back in the 70's. I spent 2 hours every day on the school bus so I was exposed to the greatest era of music. So much country crossover happened in the 70's as well.
