Shark Tank Australia

5 жыл бұрын

Chris entered the Tank pitching his unique cruise tour of Europe that is catered to a 'young professional' demographic. Starting out in 2012 as a tour guide, Chris discovered the gap within a huge market and in 2015, his first cruise set sail. He's asking for $180,000 for an equity stake of 10%, valuing the entire business as $1.8 million. It may sound very compelling but Glen forces him into submission. Will the entrepreneur crack?
Company Website: www.kodasail.com/
An international sensation, Shark Tank AUS features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Tank from our Sharks, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

Counting down into pressuring someone into a deal, how professional
@officialANON001
@officialANON001 4 жыл бұрын
Hello, in a typical company/team vs one person negotiations or solo vs solo negotiations counting would indeed be unprofessional. However in a competitive bidding process like this one it is not new to establish time frames, deadlines, or counting etc however I personally am against it, and have never used this method in negotiating.

That pressuring, to be honest, life changing moment of course he will take his time. That's just like telling someone to go view the house once and make the choice of buying or not buying on the same day. You can't go off thinking someone would make a decision so quickly, I don't know how long they were going at it but at the end of the day you would take your time because it's like going to buy a house. In all honesty I know he said he wanted to expand and everything and every person is different but I honestly think he is better off just doing what he is doing. Doesn't need to work much and have such a great return and making plenty of money, yes a shark can help him make millions, so shifting that the % he would get a lot more money most likely but he is going to have to put in a lot more effort, time and I'm sure a lot more pressure to keep the business going.I think he is just better off doing his own thing, have a lot more time in his hands and if he wants just get a part-time job or something.

Investors have little care about the people they are dealing with. They need you to make money for them. Then they are finished with you. I have had some dealings with people who try to. Lets say mildly intimidate you because they have money and you want it. In basic terms investors will as you say screw you. Mostly because they can. But unfortunately that is the name of the game, here on Shark Tank. If you don,t want to be in this position. Don,t ask for any investment. Go it alone. I always find it crazy how much of someones business you can buy for what in the grand scheme of their business isn't a lot of money. It reminds me how if you have a lot of money it's easier to make more money. Money makes money! 💸

These investors act like children. It's crazy. The music is so over the top. Show is ridiculous. What I would have done with Glen is when he got to one, is said I'm going to go back to the wall for to think. I'm sure Glen makes deals like this every day! If he did he would be stone broke.

I like Glen's tactic, part of business acumen is knowing if your partner is decisive and doesn't pussyfoot around challenges, I would have cut them off, looked right at Glen and said: I don't meant to interrupt but you have a deal Glen.

ok at the point of the $237k mention of profit, then u normally would ask. what taxes are necessary to be paid overseas at the point of purchase? if the sales are all in aussie land then the local rates be the key, but if in EU beyond the VAT and its Input tax credits, what Income tax rates r involved? this would help let the potential investor/shark know how long it might take to get dividends out of the cruise zone ( tax rates vary). for example: u have to pay taxes before u can remove dividends and the locals in EU coin assume that since the sales and revenues be based off their zone of control, they have a coin right to tax and that lowers the cash on hand reserved for dividends. so even with a large profit ready for a retained earning account, the investor will still have to wait for the cash to be high enough on hand so there is cash to pay a declared dividend. In this case, the tax rates are Import ant but they will not affect the margins, only the time line to pay out the profits thru the use of a dividend. Thank you for this interesting upload.

This version has 2 good investors, one who always backs out (red dress), one who always makes a worse offer (green dress), and 1 who is semi decent. This version kinda sucks too because the semi decent is the one who always invests and the other 2 are known for their international abilities.

This must be a joke?? Those sharks don’t dig deep into any business and are pleased by such small things. Everything aways seems fine to them. That’s what I expect from an American/Aussie show tbh it’s mostly entertainment. Dragons Den is the real deal where dragons won’t make a deal with you till they know your shoe size

These pitches last over an hour each, it’s cut down and condensed into 10 minutes, think about how much business talk and number crunching goes out the window with only 10 minutes of highly edited clips from that much footage? I can assure you these sharks broke down every number imaginable before investing, it’s just that for entertainment value of the show you can’t include every bit of that.
