I just picked up this bottle and its great and your right its not too over sherried and the oak is complementing not over powering it makes the finish really nice. Cheers mate

Thanks for the review. The current GA 12 is one of my absolute affordable favorites. Can still be found on sale for less than 40 Euros in the German market. I like its vibrant and punchy flavors a lot. Tried the 15 as well, this one seemed more sophisticated and towards chocolate notes, but it's also a good deal more expensive over here.

I really enjoy Bunnahabhain 12 and I find Glenallachie 12 very pleasant in a similar way, despite there being some differences in the two. I find that most of my favourite malts are matured in a mix of sherry and bourbon or virgin oak casks, rather than exclusively one variety of cask.

Geoff, the 12 yr Chinquapin oak finish is awesome ... got to make a statement for my favourite. its got a sweet little flavour to it that stands out.

GlenAllachie 12 is the winner between GlenDronach 12, Edradour Caledonia 12. Unfortunately, all exclusive casks finishes are too expensive in our region, so looking forward for any discounts

Interesting - I don't taste any sourness from Glenallachie at all! In fact I find this sweeter than my Glenfarclas 15. Glenallachie 12 is my fave sherried whisky out of everything I've had so far (and definitely better than Glendronach 12). Got a bottle of Edradour Caledonia 12 coming so will be interesting to compare!

yeah this is a good one cheap i like the sherrie its a very rewarding dram normal price i have mutch more expensive bottles what give more depth or special flavors bud they are expensive en at the end of the day glenallachie 12 is maby easy basicallly dram sherrie bud afther a hard day of work this gets me really happy en somtimes the expensive bottles not so mutch you need to really think what you are drinking en this glellachie 12 is to comfort me

Can't agree with you on the bottling presentation rating. You gave 2/5 to Glenfarclas 105, which gives a way more "cheap" impression...at least on this Glenallachie bottle we have purple with gold, and the GlenAllachie written in an exquisite way lol cheers man

My friends Barney and Betty came over and we all enjoyed this bottle It goes well with a brontasaurus burger 🤣. Seriously though, a nice 12 year old i need to reacquaint myself with. I haven’t had the newer version, so I look forward to that. Thanks for your great review

Drinking side by side I can’t give it to the 12. The 15 is waaaay more intense. But I understand why some people might prefer the 12.

I recommended this for a friend. He bought it, we all tried it, loved it, and now we have all bought a bottle. A really delicious chocolatey malt. I'm excited to enjoy this dram well into our Melbourne winter. My friend loves his Arran 10. They are both so good and different. Which would you pick if you had to? I assume the Arran.

Having tasted GlenAllachie 12 beside Glendronach 12, the GlenAllachie is darker fruits with more depth while the Glendronach is lighter fruits.

Finally purchased it! Not even in Moscow city itself but in the suburbs thug life districts where everyone including myself lives lol. Flintstones design that just cracked me up 😂👌 taste wise... Am I becoming a snob or the dried bananas and raisins dominant notes made this one look flat to me?? Maybe I've had too much of arran (18 yo processing these days) but I find lack of complexity... Maybe 10 CS to correct that? Other recommendations of the GA?

I'm not sure I will buy into this.. I'm hearing very good reviews /commendations bout Glenmorangie's 12 Yr Lasanta {brought down a notch at 43%ABV} So perhaps less aggravatingly cloying. Havin said that I've gone ahead {only yesterday} with the Arran Port cask finish in preference to Glenmorangie's 14 Yr Quinta Ruban.. Difference in loot of 25 yoyos.. Which went towards a bottle of Kilbeggan Single Pot Still. Maybe I'm the smart arse.. With the conical Dunce Hat. Anyway.. We fight on n fight to win.. Sláinte a chairde.

The price keeps going up, unfortunately. The lowest I've been able to find it here in Minnesota is $70 USD for the 700ML bottle (For some reason, couldn't find the 750ML)

Agree on the bottle design. Looks like a bad early 1990s design. I certainly wouldn’t have tried it without peoples recommendation. Good pour though. Nice review!

They def. need to fire whoever is responsible for that goofy bottle design lol. So cartoonish it almost makes you question Billy Walker's judgement. Into my second bottle of the purple juice tho' and keep going back to it. Hard to beat at $80 CAD imo. Keep up the solid reviews bud you deserve more subscribers.

Geoff bro I’ve been asking Reddit recently for a winter recommendation and someone mentioned this. It was also mentioned when I asked for a summer recommendation which totally ruined the exercise. Could you please do a spring/summer list when the time comes? It seems so obvious to me that some whiskies are better suited for certain weather yet there is very little information addressing this specifically.

Forgot if you mentioned in this video .. how is the reachability for this dram? I'm considering it since it's on sale here in Canada for $60.

Great review. Btw finally found and bought 2 bottles of the Caledonia 12. One bottle is from 2016, the other is 2018. Oddly though the newer one is just slightly darker. Weren’t these from one cask chosen by the Scottish singer? Then again if it was how has this Caledonia has been around for a decade or more?

The design of the bottle is so horrible. Looks almost like Papyrus font on the bottle. The purple-tinted rock surface look like som 90's RPG-sourcebook design. It has to be really great for me to consider having that on my shelf.
