If you pay attention to mountain biking in Scotland then you have heard of Bike Glenlivet
The purpose built mountain bike trails are found on the Glenlivet Estate. The trail centre tries to make itself inclusive for all mountain bike riders. There are red and blue trail loops and also a new blue flow line, orange jump line and mini DH track. For the rider asking for a little more there are now some awesome off-piste trails also.
I travelled to Bike Glenlivet to see if it would be suitable for an experienced MTB rider and I was blown away. The new flow trail, Bazza's Berms, is easily one of the best MTB trail-centre trails I have ridden in Scotland. The orange jump line is just mind blowing and the off-piste was so much fun.
If Bike Glenlivet is not the best trail centre in Scotland then it is certainly the most fun!
To help you find your way round this Glenlivet MTB adventure the chapters are as follows:
0:00 Intro to video
0:56 An introduction to Glenlivet MTB trails
2:52 Bazza's Berms Glenlivet
4:20 Mini DH Glenlivet
6:34 Orange Jump Line Glenlivet
7:43 Should I hit the big jump on the Orange at Glenlivet?
9:34 Skills area Glenlivet
10:59 TTF trail Glenlivet
13:15 Han Solo trail Glenlivet
14:31 Glenlivet Red Loop
15:00 Should you visit Bike Glenlivet?
If you are new to my videos then expect to see high quality riding vlogs shot in the same style as McTrail Rider, Paul the Punter and BKXC. I try to travel to the best MTB locations in Scotland finding you the best mountain biking trails.
The video was shot on a GoPro Hero 10 mounted on the chin of an Endura MT500 helmet using a Gnartec mount.

Definitely. It's good to progress to new stuff, however it has to be balanced with enjoyment and risk. The problem with a big gap, or anything gnarly, is that you could take yourself out of the game for weeks and months. None of us want that!

Used to go to Glenlivet but thought the trails were a bit like 7stanes but fantastic to hear that there's some natural stuff going in - hopefully some more will be cut. Have to admit I dislike flow trails with a passion - we're back in Wellington NZ and all of the new trails being built are flow or what's being called "flow-tech" (BS IMO) to the detriment of natural trails. You hit the nail on head though with having a variety of trails - a blended approach for all abilities and tastes. If you haven't checked out some Rotorua videos you should - it's the ultimate "blended" biking location as there's so much choice from beginner/family trails to hardcore enduro rootfests. Good to shout out @Inver Trails Biker as he's got a real rich seem of riding videos there. Thanks for posting Jamie and great to put Glenlivet back on the map as I love it around that area.
@streetpigeonmtb
@streetpigeonmtb 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Wayne. Really interesting to hear your perspective. It definitely sounds like you can have too much of one thing so variety has to be the way to go. I dearly hope the 7 Stanes get some development. I also hope that Forestry let the trail associations take the lead on the natural stuff. Here is hoping the holy grail of inclusive locations can happen. I fear the 7 stanes and Tweed Valley are going to get left behind at this rate. Cheers for the heads up on Rotura. Cheers again for taking time to watch and comment 👍

I visited Glenlivet when I was staying in Fort William the week before the August Bank Holiday. Only got to ride the red trail, due to arriving there later than expected (Highways lorry had toppled into a ditch, blocking the road into the estate, meaning a 40 minute detour). Really enjoyed the red trail, some fast flowing descents, although there was a little too much fire road climbing. Would definitely go back for another visit.

If you think 7 Staines are bad you should see some of the trail centres in England. Seems to me Forest England don’t want mountain bikers. There happy to allow a few risk free trails and pocket the money they bring in. My local forest for example is massive with a building community but has 1 trail.
@streetpigeonmtb
@streetpigeonmtb 2 жыл бұрын
Crazy, isn't it. What annoys me is that the forestry in Scotland and England are publicly owned. They need to move on with the times. There is actually more capital to be made from the biking than the trees in some of our forests so why not advantage everyone by being a bit more progressive? Crazy times mate.
