These two men are so well spoken, I could not be more proud to call them my personal heroes. They alone could have saved us from the world wide tyranny we were slowly heading towards. Two of the most important men in modern times, hands down.

***** same here. Proud of these men. They gave us the transparency we were seeking from Obama when we elected him. He, in return, sees Snowden as a traitor. Snowden should be given amnesty and a pardon as he did us a favor by exposing the truth.

+Lina Nicolia He can't get a pardon without facing charges and being convicted. Obama did the best he could and did not pursue extradition. He could easily pressure the russians to release him if he wanted. So don't blame obama for it.

For me, I am amazed that people didn't know this. I remember systems, that people i knew got access to when we were younger that allowed them to pick a phone number and listen in. I was almost certain that this was an FBI/NSA system. Given the structure of the internet, and how it was built. You'd be a fool not to realize the internet is surveiled. This was of no revelation to anyone in the technology industry. I have been saying for years that the internet is insecure. The internet is using un-encrypted (for the most part), 35 year old technology that is heavily floored.

I think that you should think about what Ed's saying and what Jesse banned her saying because it's a match they're both saying the same thing you both need to take it into consideration to listen to both of them they are very unique people and start learning how to communicate because what's being said from both sides is closest to both alterations and devastating questions that you would need to hear but as both of them said we'll leave the ball in your field it's up to you to decide what you want to do and the facts are true reality and one of them states that no one gets scrutinized just for speaking out on a freedom of speech that was your words as well as someone else's

@MonMalthias 8 жыл бұрын
+DirtyD No, I think the guy doing the interviewing is absolutely on point. He is playing the role of devil's advocate. I think on complex issues like this it is necessary, perhaps essential, for someone to "take the opposite side" in order for the interviewee to fully air out the issues at hand. It is not necessary for you to like him; only for him question Snowden and Greenwald in such a way that they can fully articulate their position and nuance. On this aspect, he did a fantastic job.

@faeryel
@faeryel 8 жыл бұрын
+Brent Goff Reports I'm late but I think a problem is that you keep bringing the interview back to personal questions (how he feels about the fallout from his actions, his hopes of coming back to the States, ...) when Edward Snowden clearly wants the conversation to be about the important issues and how it affects everyone and not him personally.
@BrentGoffReports
@BrentGoffReports 8 жыл бұрын
Edward Snowden was and remains at the heart of this issue. It's impossible not to ask him about his feelings and thoughts if they story is about Snowden the whistleblower. The issues of surveillance, data privacy, checks and balances, etc. were also discussed with Snowden and also for 30 minutes with Greenwald.

In charging him under 1917 did the government just declare war on the press? So if my sources are correct he is currently charged under 18 USC § 641, § 793(d), and § 798(a)(3). That being the case doesn't the government then have to be able to provide definitively the fiscal amount, or "value" under § 641? The two sections that fall under the 1917 Espionage Act are §793(d) and § 798(a)(3). These are the two to which he was referring carry no defense under "public interest" or "whistleblower" means. At the time of this writing there are 9 such Espionage Act charges brought by the Obama Administration. Both of those sections require that he was making it available to a foreign government for him to be charged under these specific subsections. I'll leave you with the links to Cornell Law's copy of the aforementioned 18 USC sections. www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/641 www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/793#d www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/798#a_3

I recall hearing how the contractors for the NSA are the ones promoting the expanded surveillance. Searching metadata via thin-thread would cost relatively little and be more effective. Collecting all that redundant data costs billions. The contractors reward anyone on the inside who supports the policies that the contractors want. Those who are instrumental on the inside in achieving this for the contractors, can then leave the NSA in short order and be hired on by the contractors on lavish terms. This makes sense to me in terms of explaining the motivation. Neither the contractors nor the insiders they bribe give a damn about violating people's rights for the sake of tracking terrorists. They are not zealots in this sense. They just want the cash -- to the tune of billions for the contractors and going from a crap government salary to a posh lavish payola income for the insiders. They persuade the politicians accordingly. I wish they would do more to draw attention to this basic aspect of the corruption. There must be some way to shut down this sort of simple kick-basic arrangement and conflict of interest. Once the billions are spent and the operation is established, the politician would be shell-shocked at the prospect erasing it all from existence -- a move that would now seem extremely radical and dramatic. Better to keep flowing with the vast ocean current.

Wow, I had no idea that Glenn was as articulate and cogent in his remarks. He is also appears to be just as knowledgeable about the area of expertise which he expounds upon. Edward Snowden can tell of exactly what the NSA is doing and how he came to expose this material, but it is Glenn Greenwald who can sell this to the general populations of the world. Selling this information is the crux of how well a population accepts this information as truth, which is more important than what is exposed in the narrative of the expose' ! If the people buy it as truth, then they can demand changes which will benefit all mankind, and rightfully Snowden and Greenwald will have done a great service to humanity.

First of all welcome to the real world. I don't now, nor did I ever get it with the internet because there has always been a worldwide web. Anyone in the military, or raised in a military family especially the Air Force knows that international communications on a world wide web are not new. At all. The real question and challenge today is:What kind of progress has been made in communication that has pushed the door open to make the worldwide web available to everyday people? It is my personal belief that this kind of communication is now passé otherwise we wouldn't be using it. So what are they using instead? Think about it.

@@AnotherAnonymousFag Captain Hindsight, here. Yeah, so, the issue, I think is that computers and the internet are very sophisticated things. They've been made to be, over the course of time, easier and easier to use. There's a whole conference that's held every 4 years and they study Human/Computer Interaction. Its made up of experts of many fields like neurology, psychology, computer science, engineering, marketing, and so forth. Their main goal is to make the human/computer interaction as comfortable as possible. Computers were made for war, actually. When there wasn't war, they resorted to using computers to create games and software, things that were considered during peace-times. What we have is comfortable, but there's always going to be that ominous undertone to technology. My question is, should we even be using it? lol

coming from someone whos been in front of judges many many times. Heres why Snowden although in my mind has noble intentions in his disclosure, I admire it. But he's naive about legal system in usa. Its not called the "JUSTICE" system, its "jUDICIAL" system. What that means, Im speaking from experience. a judge REGARDLESS of type of CHARGES, espionage, or whatever minor or major charge. they are NOT there to be "JUST" to ADMINSTER JUSTICE. Thats a fairy tale and very naive. I've learned from experience a judge is there to APPLY THE LAW and evaluate if LAW WAS BROKEN OR NOT. in other words, THE LAW is did A happen , if so, then "B" is what you deserve, period. Judges/judicial system is messed up because they do not adminster "justice". They only are going to decide if you broke Law A or not and if so, you get "B" and the degree of sentence. You WONT have a chance in a case to tell "your story" or "tell why you broke the law" "your side of the story, is fantasy and judges do NOT care. Its not what judges in legal system care about. You will know this is true if you are in legal system as I was for quite some time. They do not care, why you came forward, why you thought "the people deserve to know". They only will judge you on did you break Law "A" and if so, the only that will happen is you get "B". Thats it! That is how the legal system works, thats how law is applied, thats how judges work. Any other idea of legal system is naive. Us legal system is about a+b..not "is it fair? is it just.? " Only God in heaven is "fair and just". You wont find justice on earth, You know "justice" because God wrote it in our hearts, or to be less esoteric, it's written in our DNA, or CODE. We know and long for "justice". But the best humans and specifically the courts transact is "LAW" not justice. Its "A+B=X" .... Stop calling courts justice system. its not a "justice system" Call it the legal system, judicial system. Justice does not exist on earth. Only in our hearts. LEgal system is a joke. Ive been in front of judges too many times, trust me.
