Do you think this stone is a glacial erratic or deliberately placed? Comment below.

Hello Martin, lovely big boulder . Probably a glacial erratic , it would have looked impressive if it had been standing though. Still , the art proves it has an ancient special meaning. Shame it has been damaged so badly. Thanks for sharing .👍🍀

I only found out about this site at the beginning of January. The cup and ring carvings are a common design in Europe and beyond.

It must have been a very important megalith, whatever the reason's of it's history. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Lee, thanks. It is a peculiar stone, I am open to the idea that this cup marked boulder could have been intentionally placed where it is. I am currently working on two films, Arthur's Round Table and Mayburgh Henge, Martin.

@@BeforeCaledonia we have a similar story of a stone in Leicester called the Humber stone. Some say it could be an erratic stone though the closet stone of its kind( syenite granite rock), is 10 miles away. It has a lot of folklore stories about it being to do with witches, probably because of its pentagon shape, and the daisies grow around it in an almost perfect circle. Theres great view from it in area's but now building's/trees block most of the views.

☀️🌙 New Moon wishes! Hi Martin, that's a huge stone! Resembles a Recumbent & looked like the Sun was hitting it, is it facing the S/W Winter Solstice setting Sun? I like to think with all those markings it was placed there, perhaps not far from where a Glacier deposited it. Maybe as a marker stone. The fact that people in the past blew it up, but didn't use the parts, seems more like superstition to me. Thanks for sharing 🙂🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hi Suzy, happy eclipse! I don't know if it is orientated south west, I never checked. I think this stone has been placed where it is. I am glad it still exists and didn't get obliterated.

Just thinking about it, I remember reading a theory that cup marking a boulder or rocky outcrop attracts the nearest ley line to connect with it. Whether it was placed there or just random, the cup marks make it an energy point. What do you think Martin? 🍀
