I could say how proud I am to be Dutch with our Glennis Grace, but your reaction surprised me a bit at 3:21. You seemed quite overwhelmed how American music is popular outside the U.S.. In reality it's huge! Whitney Houston was a massive force that reached every country in the world. To be clear, the Dutch in general loves Americana. Yes it is difficult to perform a song by Whitney the way Whitney did it. In fact no other singer can do that. And she has two reasons: one is that she is honoring her great idol, the reason that she started to sing and perform at nine years old. Two: she believes perfection cannot be interpreted. She can make any songs her own if she wants (listen f.i. to Always by Bon Jovi, a complete new masterpiece of art!), but when it comes to WH she chooses to stay as close as possible to the original. At the same time she is not a copy cat. She has a huge portfolio, including her own songs, mostly in Dutch, her native language. But not seldomly ignoring people only click on her WH covers and than advice her to find her own way.
