Yesterday I found a "her version" of this song, and now I found the "current GF" of this song, which truly shows how many stories can 1 song tell.

when I first heard the lyrics. I cried,not for him or his ex. I cried for the woman who was just a filler for him. So perfect but never enough.

If you're still not ready to love again, or you're still in love with the person who left you, please don't even disturb someone and get their attention, make them attached, tell them I love you and leave them. Damn, think first before making an action. You're not just hurting someone. You just let them feel that they're not worthy to be loved and give them trust issues.

This cover is exactly what I'm dealing with right now, with my boyfriend. He's told me a million times that I'm the one that he loved and that I'm perfect. I remember he told me that I grabbed his attention only because I had some traits as she had. I remember he had over 500 of her photos in his phone, I told him to delete them, but he said they were too important for him. There wasn't a day, that I didn't think about it. I compared myself with her trying to be perfect for him. But I couldn't work it out.

Growing up, I had a lot of issues with self-love and self esteem due to experiencing SA at a very very young age and as a result, I couldn’t let anyone in. No matter how hard I tried, everything in me would just shut down whenever someone was even semi romantic towards me. I started really working on my mental health when I was 18 and then at 20 years old I was able to start seeing this guy who became my first everything and it took so much for me to even talk to him due to the trauma I was still dealing with. The only problem was, he wasn’t over his ex. I still remember when he told me that she was the girl he thought he was gonna marry. I thought it would be okay because I was young and naïve and I figured she cheated on him in such a horrible way that I could be what he needed and it would all work out. Plus, she’s a diagnosed sociopath and an overall horrible, toxic person. Well, needless to say, I got a few nasty messages from her when she found out about me and she called me an ugly cow among other things. He ended up going back to her and then coming back to me after a month when he realized he messed up. I tried to make it work, I did everything to make him happy and be there for him and help him with whatever he was going through but you can’t be there for someone who doesn’t want help. He let himself go further into his depression and I had to step away for both our sakes. He texted me a few months later telling me he was sorry and he was depressed and gained all this weight and I told him he needs to focus on his own mental health to move forward. I felt destroyed and wondered if I could love again. I cried for weeks replaying everything in my head wondering what I did wrong and reminding myself that I didn’t do anything wrong. A month later, I met the love of my life who treats me like a queen and who I can be unapologetically myself around and it only makes him fall further in love with me. We live together now and nothing would make me happier than watching our hair turn gray as we grow older with only eyes for each other and the family we’ll create. I’m grateful for my ex because he taught me who I am in a relationship and what I need from a partner. He also made it easier for me to work with my trauma when I did get into a healthy relationship. Without him, I might’ve never met the love of my life. I just want to say to anyone going through it right now, trust the process. Life is about yin and yang. If you’re in a low place right now, trust that it will give you the momentum you need to shoot for a high place. Give it time, you will heal and you WILL find the love you deserve. ❤

Hearing the original song made my raging heart ache a lot, this made me feel okay to leave him and let him find the girl who had played with his heart. I tried my best to make him feel loved though.. I guess I was just his therapist or something. Surprisingly, I moved faster than I thought. Maybe because I knew from the beginning that he didn't actually love me, yet I still gave him a chance to be a new person. I find this so much more heartbreaking. While I understand what the original lyrics were conveying and expressing, and I know just how painful it must be for the Guy to try and move on when all he sees is his Ex in his current Girlfriend because he thought he was ready to move on when he wasn't- I think that being on the other end of where you're in the place of the Girlfriend and where you'd realize that you'll never have the Guy look at you the same way he did with his Ex, hurts on a lot more levels. Imagine you realize that you're technically being used just as a way of distraction from the Guy's past, that you're constantly being compared to the Ex, that no matter what you try to do to be better it would just never work? Yet you love the Guy regardless so you wouldn't know how to deal with the situation. It'd be a lot more difficult, at least to me. Of course, as the current Girlfriend you should still just strive to do the best you could and not blame yourself for it, but it's hard in times like those. Great job~
