Few of us expect to leave a lasting impact on our communities, let alone the world, but many have done just that.
From politicians, to entertainers and athletes, the world said goodbye to many incredible individuals in 2023.
In a tribute created by senior national affairs correspondent Eric Sorensen, senior photojournalist Trevor Owens and producer Katherine Aylesworth, we look back at some of the influential people who left us this year.

I always tear up during these videos. As life keeps trucking along, we watch those who laid the road before us slowly fall... It only when we forget about them that they truly pass... RIP everyone on this list. You all made a name for yourselves in one way or another, and blazed a trail that still burns for today's people to traverse

don't forget Nestor Sanchez. He lost his battle with stomach cancer, leaving his wife and 3 young children behind. RIP Nestor

We lost so many. So very sad.We also lost Aaron Carter and just this week his sister Bobbie Jean Carter and just today I think Maurice Hines . God bless 🙏🙏

My condolences to the millions of *Muslim Uyghurs in Xinjiang* who lost their - lands, religious practices and dignity, and now become genocide victims of the Chinese regime with *indisputable evidence* from: *- hacked Xinjiang Police Files,* - satelite images, - eye witnesses, - survivors, - Chinese official documents and - multiple press investigations since 2008.

Gorden lightfoot, Wayne Gretzky,leslie Neilson,john candy,anne murray,our fallen soldiers from Afghanistan,medical people who gave us important discoveries or treatments,avro arrow and a mountie on a horse should be featured on our money,pass port and govt buildings...we should be promoting all things canadian

They talk about homeless/drug addicts deaths 24/7 on Canadian news. Literally daily, it's a big part of the current narrative.

Mostly foreigners. Canadian government subsidized media should report on Canadians who passed in 2023, not Americans. They do a much better job talking about their own, and we can watch them much more easily anyway. Celebrities weren’t the only people who died this year.

They don't care. Canadian media is just another off shoot of American media outlets. They all "report" the exact same things.
