Quaint, crooked and beloved pub to be rebuilt in England’s midlands after being demolished

Residents of a small town in England are raising a glass to a remarkable victory.
Their favourite pub - built back in the 1700s - was demolished last year, much to their surprise. They've since been told the historic watering hole must be rebuilt exactly as it was.
As Redmond Shannon explains, restoring the crooked house pub isn't straightforward.

I doubt it was an insurance scam. Tge owners the landfill sites which are on opposite sides of the access road. They said they were going to use the for a camping site

Another waste of funds. Stop renewing decaying buildings for nostalgia's sake. It was obviously a death trap, why Rebuild something so stupidly expensive. Older than the USA, well most pubs in Europe are older than the USA. That's an irrational reason to spend funds when you could build something USEFUL there.

It’s not public or federal funding there asking the current owners that are also being accused of setting the fire and demolishing the building so quickly and there excuse was, they didn’t know it was a heritage building clearly they wanted the lot for something more profitable to there pockets so they destroyed it to get it out-of-the-way

Personally if it was me and I had the money? I would buy the building materials from the owners including the basement bricks. Then I’d have the foundations accurately measured by professional engineers and architectures before re locating the building near a bigger footfall of traffic such as Castle Gate near the Village Inn as there is vacant land there not being used. It’s perfect if you want to hold a wedding venue and people need to stay the night and I’m sure a deal could be done with Village Inn bigwigs to accommodate each other so it benefits buisness. I know it wouldn’t be a popular decision and most locals would want it to return on the site it was originally built on but I’m sorry.there is no future there. It wouldn’t survive another 59 years let alone another 200. At the end of the day Crooked House is a buisness and it either survives or dies by customers using that buisness.
