Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took questions from newly-minted Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre for the first time on Thursday in the House of Commons’ question period.
"Heating your home in January and February in Canada is not a luxury. And it does not make those Canadians - polluters - they're just trying to survive. This from a prime minister who burned more jet fuel in one month than twenty average Canadians in an entire year. So will the prime minister ground the jet, park the hypocrisy, and axe the tax hikes," Poilievre said.
Trudeau unveiled the government’s proposed affordability measures on Sept. 13.
The Liberal government's proposed affordability measures included money for struggling renters, a temporary dental care benefit for some kids under 12, and a one-time boost to the GST tax credit.
Poilievre has suggested that new spending would not help average Canadians - and could risk making inflation even worse.

There are plenty of Canadians that are NOT struggling and those people need to pay more. Sell a summer home or two. We know EI and CPP need to be funded, so trying to convience canadians that EI and CPP aren't necessiary programs or that that over the next three years MIGHT take in 10billion more than it pays out. Getting butthurt about how they (pay for dental programs and other social services nets) is what pp wants from you.

The tax increase is urgently needed because Justin Trudeau and entourage just spent hundreds of thousands of dollars of taxpayers' money staying in a central London luxury hotel costing $5,000 per person per night (excluding the cost for private jet and catering services) just to attend the Queen's Funeral. Granted, Canadians had tremendous respect for our long reigning Monarch. But Trudeau was caught on camera getting drunk and singing Bohemian Rhapsody the night before the Funeral was a bit sickening!
