Can we all just get along? This afternoon, members of Gucci Mane's crew (including Waka Flocka) confronted Jeezy's clique in an Atlanta clothing store. A fight ensued and Waka's security detail fired a gun during the melee. No injuries were reported, but an eyewitness said of Waka, "Whoever he is he's got a big swollen eye now." (Rap Radar)

The man legitimately makes hundreds of thousands of dollars more than me on the daily. Anyone that can do that has my respect, especially when it comes to music. Plus, I like his beats and the way he raps over them...a lot of his tracks are super chill and great for just smoking and relaxing to. Another thing I like is a lot of his tracks have uplifting lyrics, inspiring the listeners to never give up and to always be on their hussle.

I feel you. Artists who would have in the past criticized such artists are now collabin with them to try and maintain. Get their name out to a younger fan base. So they may still be broke, compared to mainstream artists, but are trying to expand their name. Mostly Talib and Mos Def come to mind. I definitely think some vets swallow their pride a little for the sake of the dollar.

What Waka said about "hip hop"artists and money is true. If the rappers aren't broke they aren't complaining. Mos def, talib kweli, common, dr. dre, prodigy, 50 cent, kendrick lamar, and many hip hop artists don't got a problem with and actually collab with a lot of mainstream artists. They respect the new generation. And then you have rappers like Lupe and Hopsin..

I didn't mean not being hip-hop when I said types of music, I meant what kind of hip-hop (commercial, indie, underground, trap music, etc.) As for what Waka is talking about I know I get, but what YOU said in your post is that they respect the new generation. Which is not necessarily the case, just because they collab.
@simplynumba112 жыл бұрын
I guess I used the wrong context of respect, in the sense that though they may not "support" the new gen, they don't criticize it as avidly as some others. There's no issue. Or these legendary hip hop artists would be labeled "sell outs" and "hypocrites" for collaborating. There's no malice.

Im pretty sure he didn't say anything about "Super Lyrical Rappers" in this video... He surely cant. When posed the question about "real" hip-hop heads, he retorted with what the consensus opinion's value/impact was to him. I do not enjoy a lot of his music, but as a person he is more genuine than a lot of people placed on pedestals. I respect that.

I can hear the New York in Waka's voice. His slur is atl. His dialect and grammar is NY. How he pronounced his d's, and "s-word" for sword, coward, "daddy", point blank, beat you up, "the county", full measures, authorities, on sight. That's NY. But he still has the 'scraight up' in there.
@SpoofRecaps12 жыл бұрын
Right, and there's a difference between expressing the right things and the wrong things. Tupac expressed a need for change in the world, Wiz expresses that smoking weed, drinking, and partying is cool and that it's the life we should all be striving for. FUCK that, wiz is one of the many problems we have today in mainstream hip hop. They all need to leave.

Wiz isn't just black and yellow though. Yes, tupac was a poet, a lyricist, and a great rapper. Tupac talked about his life and troubles while Wiz talks about his life which happens to be weed, money, etc. lol True, Tupac can be considered more of a meaningful artist but the reason people listen to and like Wiz is the fact that he makes good songs to chill/party to. He isn't really one to look at his lyrics and think "wow that was deep" he is more of "wow the beat is nice and I like the style"
