What is most amazing for how I feel this music is a sense of brotherhood expanding from the performers into space. And what about that it was happening fourty years ago? Gilles Deleuze was as creative in philosophy at that time. It was another Europe than this. Thank you a lot!

These musicians go beyond...anything I ever heard, before or since. Han Bennink himself is a masterpiece...they're all just wildly awesome! Thanks for posting.

The two by four on the piano at 6:10 is hilarious, plus Evan Parker looking like Jerry Garcia here.

@paulmasters1957 I've got trained ears and music theory under my belt and I like this because it's a big fuck you to all of that crap. It's expressive and creative. If you can't hear it, that's your problem. :-)

Some primo European improvisers (namely, Brotzmann and Bennink) going wild. Those were the years when Han would steal marijuana from the Botanic Park in Berlin

All jokes aside there’s clearly direction to this. It’s not pure free improvisation. It’s what’s known as conducted improvisation.

@audiosamples , No, preschoolers will never achieve this level of cooperation, requiring a sense of composition, huge ears and quick reaction. To play bebop is much easier .

@noxure "Trained ears"? LOL. What, do they do tricks? What a pile of crap. Just because it's expressive and creative doesn't mean it still isn't shit. My 2-year-old grandson is expressive and creative, but smearing crayons on the walls doesn't make it precious art. So take your "trained ears" and listen to some Pink Floyd.
