Allegedly Glock is saying this gun needs 200 rds nato to break in the spring. I can't speak to the accuracy.
@clutchboi4038
@clutchboi4038 3 күн бұрын
Short stroke for sure. Recoil spring is too heavy. Springs are hard to get right and when millions of guns are built on an assembly line there will be a few bad springs that lead to this issue. I don't buy whole guns new but when I build my slides I get a variety of spring weights to try because cuts in the slide and optics can change what you need. Seems like an easy fix to get it cycling. Now the inaccuracy is probably because of the barrel and that sucks too because glock should be getting that right. You definitely should send it back for that. You aren't holding it improperly or anything those comments are wrong. You aren't limp wristing and so it's definitely the recoil spring. I have experience building several Glock clone slides and it's the issue 95% of the time. The PSA dagger recoil springs are notorious for this but I fixed all my builds with proper ISMI springs.

The plastic dust cover was done to lighten the slide. Your ejection was very weak. The ammo was barely generating enough force to cycle the gun.

The dust cover is polymer to lighten the slide. I know another owner that is having failure to eject/stovepipes multiple times in a mag. I recently purchased a new old stock G29 gen4 and it gave me nothing but failures to feed regardless of mags and ammo. They took it back, changed a few small parts and when i got it back the issue was still there. Sometimes you get lemons but the issues in the 17L are apparently common enough.

Thanks for the advice man but the plugs that swap from gen 3 guide rod/spring to gen 4 and 5 assemblies would not fit in this pistol because of the way the plastic dust cover is only half mooned. I tried that right off the bat. As far as the sights they would be dead on but once the pistol heated up from shooting accuracy went to crap. The hotter it got the crappier the accuracy. Cold it was dead on. When I sighted it in with the adjustable sights it was dead on. After the range review it was hot and went from a 1” group at 10 yards to 3.5” at 10 yards with one flyer that went a touch under 6”. Thanks for the suggestion though. My gen 2 and 3 17Ls have the same factory sights on them with absolutely zero issues.

Not necessarily it could be a genuine barrel issue considering that he shoots well with other pistols. The new Daniel defense pistol that is $1500 was shooting key holes for another KZfaqr at very short distances so it's not impossible for even a premium pistol barrel to be bad. To fix the issue he needs one size under recoil spring weight and a known good barrel. Springs are pretty cheap but I'd send it back to Glock for the barrel after testing with another barrel.

So Glock really cheaped out and put that plastic dingleberry thing on the front? I had very little interest when I heard Glock was releasing the 17L Gen 5, and now I have exactly none. And I agree. Either Glocks work of they don't assuming they haven't been obliterated with aftermarket garbage, and it would definately be going back and gotten rid of. Recently went through these same problems with a 43X, and it was immediately sold and gotten rid of. Unfortunately, now that the man Gaston himself is gone, I suspect we'll be seeing a lot more of this from Glock in the future.
