That thing is purely designed as a stabby stab stab tool to perforate your enemy and as a wedge. A gimmick it has is the bottle opener function and a good balance for throwing. Other than that, any other knife which is heavier with a wider blade should work way better for bushcrafting.

Glad you covered this one. I'm definitely a Glock shooter...started in Glock...I also shoot other stuff...but I saw these for sale on a website and wondered if they were decent. That field test actually impressed me...for a knife that long it doesn't look beefy and looks like it tolerated a fair amount of abuse. My go to field knife in this category is my BK-7...I got a custom kydex sheath that fits perfectly on my belt or plate carrier..its awesome.

We didn't use our knives for field work much during my time in the austrian military, but we pried and scratched a ridiculous amount with em. Handled a couple hundred of em in my time in the armory, never saw a broken one, worst thing we managed to do to those knives was scrape so much with em that we handed em back an inch shorter.

I had one of this knifes for many years and in fact it is a durable knife hard to break and quite good to do things usually not done with knifes. it might be a good fighting knife, but I did not try that as I did not use it as bayonet on a Steyr AUG 77. (In my short military career I was trained on the STG 58). it is also not my preferred knife to cut vegetables or meat. I spent quite some time outdoors and prefer a swiss army knife when hiking. it is multipurpose and quite small. (if you prefer a leather man you will be fine as well). in case weight is not important, I take an opinel knife for 11.20 EUR. i bought one in the wine museum in Bordeaux with an additional feature: a cork screw, which makes the knife perfect for camping. I might consider a moderate priced bush craft knife for camping,

I do not personally own any of Cold Steels. I own a singular CKRT Facet for everyday tasks in order to prevent my belt knife (fix blade) from going dull to frequently. I have never had a folder (even expensive CKRTs like M16, m21, and my current Facet etc) NOT FAIL. Almost every one has some kind of malfunction at some point. Multiple times I have had locking mechanisms fail on me (even from ginger use) and luckily i still have all my fingers. I am a firm believer in fix blades, nothing to go wrong or mechanically fail except from extreme abuse. I would like to get another M21 at some point

This is the false information about this knife that has been circulating on KZfaq for years: THIS IS A SAW ! It's not a saw, it's a rasp. Furthermore, this rasp is not intended for cutting wood, but rather for inflicting the greatest wound possible in battle. It's not a sawback but a root cutter. The sawblade is in the handle of the Glock entrenchment tool, which you can buy almost as cheap, but it's still the best field spade with a telescope handle.. Look it up and connect the dots. Every soldier in Austria, Germany, and Denmark will be equipped with both tools because it's actually a survival set. When you have all the parts, you will understand why it works even better, and you really only use 10% of the same strength you have shown.
