You know Dankton getting the Puff on his side makes a lot of sense. In the newer seasons Mrs Puff is a feared gang criminal who scares of the tough guys. In the Salty Spitoon all the people there feared her and Spongebob managed to scare her and cause of that got respect from all the gangs in the Spitoon. So Dankton having the Puff on his team makes sense nobody gonna mess with him besides the Bottom Boys if the Puff on his team. If this is the case then it makes sense that The Puff is the literal Mob tie
