That's because she's one of the very few female artists who didn't have that need to show her body or having her @$$ all over the place just to get noticed. She is most definitely underrated and one of a kind
@ebonpaladinАй бұрын
@@CerealKiller5150 no one did that in the 80s, not counting Madonna who didn't need to do it either, she just felt like it. I don't agree that she was underrated - her discography (with over 100 million records sold worldwide) and the awards she's won say otherwise.

I was 17 in the summer of 89 and my father took us to Ceder Point. I met a Spanish girl from Michigan who was the same age as me. We spent the entire day together riding the rollercoasters and eating at concession stands. At the end of the day she had to go her way and I went mines. Pulling out the parking lot, this was the first song to play on my walkman which seemed like it lasted the entire ride home. Maria was my first and hardest crush. I'm in my 40's now and still hearing this song makes my heart change to a completely different rhythm.

I hadn't heard this song in years, then in 1995...it came on the radio...I was dealing with a hard break up. I finally thought I met the " one " . Suddenly it was over...I was crushed. She jump started my heart, I didn't want anyone else...I dated but stopped cold when I met her. The song came on and the tears wouldn't stop. I've yet to meet anyone who makes me feel that way just as I did then. I was 23. A man isn't worth a damn if he can't cry at the the right time.

Hadn't heard this song in 20 plus years until recently and it totally brought back memories and emotions. My high school girlfriend was a ballet dancer and she performed a dance to this song at our senior variety show and dedicated it to me. That was 33 years ago. We went through a tough breakup and went our separate ways after high school, and eventually we totally lost touch. I was so crushed. My first love and boy did I love her more than anything... Amazing how just hearing a song can bring back such powerful memories!!

One of Gloria's gifts? She never OVER-sang.... She never UNDER-sang. ... She didn't step all over melodies with those cheap vocal runs like many did in her day. She hammered a melody home and let the heart give it the spark. There was firm professional discipline in what she created and to her listeners, she just made it sound easy! ❤️❤️❤️
@pnelson1432 Жыл бұрын
And she has written most of her own ballads and plenty of her uptempo songs, adding to the authenticity of her musicianship, I feel. (But it's fine when singers don't write their own songs, of course. And there are plenty of Gloria's great vocals that were of songs provided by other songwriters.)

Back in 1989 I was a freshman high school student who had a close friend named Gary. His love of his life was my neighbor named Kirsten. High school sweetheart if I may say but, along the way of their relationship the girl sort of gave up and they broke up. Gary was devastated and gave me a cassette tape to give to Kirsten at his home. On my way to give the tape to her I listened to it in my car. This was the song in the background " Don't Wanna Lose You " his words of pure sadness, unhappiness, undying love to her gave me goosebumps........and sadly 3 months before their graduation Gary passed away. Everyone at school was shocked! He took the situation so seriously he couldn't handle it. I never really actually knew why he passed away. His family told me it was not suicide or anything. Today I believed it was about love depression that cut his life short. Wherever you are Gary I hope you're at peace.

We would both get so stressed with reading, writing, speech therapy, and so much more. One day in the car this song came on and it hit me. I started crying because it was if he was singing it to me. So, since then I've learned to accept him and see him for who he is. He is just like us. He has strengths and weaknesses. Love is what matters. Thank you Gloria for this beautiful song.

This January I lost my last aunt and uncle within 10 days. It was hard. Her birthday is in April. I can feel your pain in this. I lost my mother 7 years ago. My uncle was her brother, though, and my aunt my father's sister. We all have to go through this sooner or later. It's a sad part of life.

This is one of those songs that carry me back to some wonderful times. I was in my 20s in the 1980s and there was so much incredible music during that time that fills me with longing for years lost with time. I can never relive those moments, but I can hold them tightly in my memory to cherish forever. Thank you to all the artists like Gloria Estefan for giving us the music that Carrie’s us back.

It’s amazing how much I miss these beautifully sad love songs. My daughter can’t get why I’m always listening to these songs, and I explained that when I was a kid love meant something because you can relate to it. These days many can’t relate to it, thus they don’t sing love songs. There are people who want to hear these songs...even now

i think people who were young in the eighties and listen to these songs can relate to mabey a better sort of life course that could be nostalgia talking,,anyway its a brilliant song.

The first time I heard this song was 10 years old. My sibling bought the cassette and played it at home so many times. It was more than a decades ago, but nowadays everytime I hear this song, it always bring me back to the memory on that afternoon, in our bustling city with bright day on the sky. So comfortable to hear this song. And nice rhythm actually, make your heart soft and nice.

Bons tempos!
