I had the Tyco Lamborghini, Mini Typhoon, Grabber, and the Fast Trax. Had a blast as a kid... now started accumulating Arrma vehicles as a mid forty adult. Nice video, cheers brother!

Nice the mid 90's had some very nice rigs to from Radio Shack and TYCO..... Nikko's at Toy's R Us were on the expensive side.

The Tyco Highjacker was my first RC car when I was young. I think I got it for Christmas one year. Someone wanted to try it and thought it would be fun in the snow. Fried all of the electrical. I didn't have it long. I wish I could find another one.

OMG!! Thanks for posting this..lol Im a kidof the 1980s and I certainly remember most of these tyco r/c cars! The Tyco Turbo Hopper of 1986, I wanted for xmas that year soooo badly and my Mom couldnt find one anywhere.. they was sold out!! I finally got one for my birthday in the summer of 1987... But at that time the 9.6v was hitting the market and I also got a Tamiya Hornet as well.. Definatly this was the hey day of Toys R Us, and JC Penny christmas Catalogs..

As a kid I had the twin turbo lambo as well but all black, thing was fast. I’m actually looking to buy one again as a collectible.

Nice collection. I started collecting some of the “vintage “ Tyco, Nikko & Radio Shack RCs in early 2020. Some I have still run great & I’ve modified some others. Definitely a great era of Rc Vehicles.

Awesome classics! Wild Thing and Hijacker were peak Tyco and everything after that got kinda goofy. I still have my Tyco Hammer and Hijacker but in pretty rough shape.

I remember you'd walk into RadioShack and they'd have a whole big spot set up with rc cars. They'd have them out if the box so you could get a good look at them. I had quite a few really cool ones but unfortunately I don't remember any... Only one I remember is my brother had the jackknife made by Tyco.

For the time these cars were fast as hell. Probably just as fast as rtr brushed hobby grade of today. Nice collection. I have a bandit the 4wd super turbo IIII super hopper. takes batteries.... and the super rare super fast traxx 1/10 scale

The oldest Tyco RC i ever had was a blue Tyco Terrainiac. Bought it used with 2 9.6v battery packs. HUGE regretfor selling it.

Still have my 1987 Taiyo Lamborghini Countach box and everything.Still better than any non hobby rc toy out there.

My first real decent RC was a radioshack wild champ I think it was a cross between nikko and tyco. It took separate batteries for the radio and for the drive system I modded it by running three 9volt batteries !!! this car had the craptastic magnetic steering in it. There were a lot of car that had an actual steering servo even though they were still all or nothing steering the best way to tell is if you can turn the wheels while not moving its got a servo if it just grunts its electromagnetic. I had another car that had a servo I wish I would have swapped it out.

I've got one that you didn't have there. It's a Black and purple buggy that kinda looks like a Fighter jet. I'll have to get to it tomorrow. But I'll come back and mention it in the comments. I beat thing hard. But I can still make it run. One of the gears is stripped though. I did that coming off a landing. Lol. But loved it. And it is in fact a 9.6 volt.

They sure don't make em like that anymore. Don't forget the 9.6V Bandits and Hammer also released around that era. What a great time for R/C that was

Honestly the heads up turbo hopper is the best except in order to keep the shock mounts on all the early bandit turbo hoppers n so on in the Early 80s from breaking you have to re enforce the bumper on all of those models.i used the bumper design from the high jacker.after that nothing broke again. Good luck..

I had the scorcher and hijacker 9.6 versions so fast back then and even now still beats most

I had a lot of rc cars back then and still have my tyco rc dirtbikes with the transmitters and the evo off of 2fast 2furious and my rc corvette and a 4 wheeler and had the tyco speed wrench and I always been outside having fun with my rc cars or in the house if the weather is not clear and I can still do the same now

How did u run them both at same time???? Because I use to try and race my friends tyco cars with my TYCO FAST TRAXX and the controllers interferes with each other and the cars would barely move cause of it????

Is the Wild Thing the best frame buggy money can buy in terms or speed, digital proportions, and control? I'm new to RC and I've found this one might be the best even if it's not the fastest. I'd appreciate a reply as these things are pricey to buy so I'd like some input. thanks!

I have a tyco eliminator that says 27mhz and a eliminator remote that says 49mhz. Anyway the two can be made to work together?

as far as cars getting slower in the 90s that is likely due to a few lawsuits from kids ramming other kids and lots of broken ankles !!!

Tyco never made anything. They were strictly a brand name. All their cars were made by either nikko or tayio.

There is no difference between the battery packs and the ones that took 8 Double A batteries that’s what a 9.6v pack is it’s 8 double A’s
