This is in the best English tradition of laughing like a loony in the face of danger and getting injured in a very silly way for a bit of a giggle. It's one of the most charming traits of the English....a bit like like ending up with the biggest empire the world has ever seen so that they could find places where they could play their national sport of cricket, which requires five consecutive days without rain (unusual in the UK) and usually ends in a draw anyway.... sounds reasonable to me....

This is THE GREATEST thing - if I ever had to move to some place in UK Gloucester would be on top of my list because I would want to have the folks that can embrace such beautifully SURREAL idea as chasing the cheese down the steep hill as my neighbors. I was there today ( 30th May Bank Holiday 2016) :) it was great, excellent atmosphere, it's an ancient tradition here in Gloucestershire and totally uncommercialised. it's free, and everyone has a good time.
