A brilliant Bank Holiday Monday at the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway for their annual Cotswold Festival of Steam gala, and there was a distinctive Great Western theme to this year’s event.
The biggest crowd puller was arguably the debut of GWR new build Grange 6880 ‘Betton Grange’, fresh out the box from Tyseley works hauling her inaugural passenger trains at the event, supported by fellow new build GWR Saint 2999 ‘Lady of Legend’ from the Didcot Railway Centre and GWR mogul 9351 courtesy of the West Somerset Railway.
With these and the home fleet locomotives in action as well as the narrow gauge railway and traction engines at Toddington, there was a plenty variety throughout the day, so here are all the highlights! | 27.05.2024
