Good review. I picked the T-2 because of the shorter height option. I built my gym in my older basement, which has less clearance room, and some ductwork in the way. I could have spent more, but I did not find another option at 71". This works for me. I wanted one that fit my basement and had plenty of attachment options. Since I bought the rack, I have also purchased a couple of other attachments, such as the pulley system and the dip attachment. There is a little more wiggle room than I would prefer, but again, it works.

Picked up a TDS Rack 72" about a year ago on Craigslist for $150. Price included dip attachment. Use metal rods in back of rack as plate holders, holds 200 lbs & makes rack solid / stable. Seems very similar to T2 Titan Rack.

I'm always appreciative of your attention to detail. I've seen a ton of reviews of this rack and none of them have mentioned the spacing issue that can happen if you place bumpers in the wrong area, or the fact that the strap safeties are too loose to use while benching. Great review!👌

Great review. Hits the important issues. Have been using this in our home. The T-2 is compact, inexpensive, and effective. The 12-gauge steel version is solid. Store weights on the back and it is safe. The addition of safety spotter arms and roller J-cups have been good attachments. Minor finish issues as delivered, as expected.

Thanks for posting up a review for the Titan T-2 Power Rack!! Definitely nice to see it get some recognition. 🙂 I was able to grab a 83in T-2 rack for $300 at the beginning of the pandemic. Boy was that price a steal compared to the price it's going for right now. Delivery was quick. Can't say much on the packaging (as we all know by now how Titan packaging goes), but Titan was able to compensate for the damaged goods inside the box. I still utilize the rack almost every day for my lifts. I also grabbed the 10-inch extension kit during Black Friday for a really good price for my bumper plates. And yup, just you stated in the video at the 10:40 mark, my bumper plates would get in the way of lifting since there wasn't enough clearance so I place the bumper plates inside of the cage. It's just a hassle getting the weights in and out of the cage since I live in a tight space but I guess it gets the job done lol. This is definitely the best budget power rack imo!

I chose this one due to the steel thickness, lined J-Cups, and beefy safeties. Yes the pin & pipes are annoying but if I'm using a budget safety system these things give me peace of mind that straps or questionably welded spotter arms don't. I recently added a double pulley system from Archon between the rear cross member and the pull-up bar which combined with one of the included 70" cables essentially gave me a $52 pulldown system.

Wouldn't the thinner gauge steel reduce the weight capacity of the rack? That is still listed as 850# on the Titan website. FYI -- I bought the T-2 as an entry level budget power rack about 2 1/2 years ago. I've been very satisfied with it. Very stable. But I think I acquired it when Titan was using 12 gauge steel for this rack.

A disadvantage of the T-2 is it lacks the holes along the base supports to be able to use resistance bands with pegs. Powertec provides a good solution for their racks but they would need some modification to work on the Titan T-2 rack. A big advantage for me is that the T-2 rack can be used without having to bolt it to the floor as with the T-3 rack. The gauge steel used is irrelevant as it does not affect the total load that can be safely supported. Who in their right mind would do squats with 800 lbs of weight and no spotter or someone to call an ambulance after a fail.

I'm curious about that as well and I think it would be good content if someone took calipers to older and recent T-2 racks and shared the results. It's definitely possible that Titan never made a true 12 gauge version but on the other hand I did notice that some of the current accessories like the lat tower attachment note that they are incompatible with T-2 racks made before September 2020 so it's possible there was a big revision at some point.

BOS calibrated plates are very good as far as calibrated plates go. They chip just as much as the Rogue ones which are somewhat overrated. With calibrated plates they are pretty much all the same except for the paint on the more expensive Eleiko plates (most chip resistant by far). For anything than the Eleiko plates just go with Rogue for the IPF approval and brand or go with the cheapest out of Hansu Power (also IPF approved), Met XT (Canada), or Titan (the budget brand in the USA and not Titex). No point in going for the BOS ones if you are in going for anything less than the Rogue plates.
@GlucksGym
@GlucksGym Жыл бұрын
Yes they are. I had originally planned to review them as the cheapest calibrated plates but their prices have been adjusted and the Hansu plates (with code Gluck for 5% off, it's not an affiliate) are cheaper. The Bells plates are nice but I don't see a ton of difference in calibrated plates across a lot of brands. If you like the design or can't find another cheaper option in stock they're nice plates. Whether I ever get to the review, I'm not sure 😂

I'm not so sure I have bought some titan stuff to use as a base for custom stuff I like to build for my gym. The metal on the pieces I have bought is really porous and I can burn through really easily. As compared to the steel from my local yard or the Canadian steel I got from Grainger. I guessing it is just has whatever recycled chinese junk yard metal melted into it. I guess what I'm saying is the 12 gauge isn't all the same and if that porosity falls in line with the load from a barbell I could see it shearing or bending.

@@richt5986 this is the hill you want to die on? That porosity in metal isn't a concern? What happed awhile back when Titan customer posted all the pictures of broken j cups just outside of the weld? Maybe super heated metal from welding process weakening the adjacent metal(which is what welding does) and the porosity of the metal made a weak point causing a break. Drop test are fun to watch and show that the thing is secure for a one off event but repetitive strain at a much lower level is a more likely use case failure; and with inconsistency in the base material you can not predict with any level of accuracy when the thing will fail.

I had a bells residential rack with a lat pull-down and some sandwich J cups for about a year before I moved and had to downsize. I suspect if you reviewed it you would prefer it over this one because of the westside hole spacing and bare steel pull-up bar.

I prefer the T2 for the steel gauge (12 v 14) and compatibility between other racks (2x2 v 2.3x2.3). I've seen just about every item Bells makes and the fact that they're supporting the residential and expanding on it means they're gaining but I'd still prefer this atm.

A while ago I got a Rep1000 rack, which I think is a bit better than this. Then I bought T2 attachments for ones Rep doesnt make (straps, monolifts, may get sandwich or roller j cups). Its the only other 1in hole 2in upright rack with 2 in hole spacing. Note reps is a hair over 2in spacing, but its still very close and tigher spacing than the others like the rep1100, and many others that are 3 in spacing. Rep1000 rack is a bit bigger than the T2. Width and depth. This improves usign the titan straps. Also when used with T2 monolifts you can bench because the J cup mounts higher. The Weight storage goes back farther so its less in the way. The T2 the storage is is close that if you use big plates like bumpers it could get in the way while lifting if you are too close. Note the primary con of wider is some specialty bars like ssbs may not fit, like the BOS adn Titan SSB's are a really tight fit or wont work. Rep1000 has numbers on the front which is nice over having none. Rep1000 they sell flip down safeties which you cna use instead of the metal ones or T2 straps. Rep1000 only has a 700lb weight capacity over T2's 850, but most of us will never be lifting 700+, especially from the rack. To anyone who actually read this, I'd get the Rep 1000 over the 1100. The 1100 has 3 in hole spacing which in my opinion is trash. No benefit to worse spacing. The 2 in spacing really matters when you are tryign to setup benc hsafeties that aretn too high or too low to be useful.

@@tomjones8235 the t2 monos the bottom hole won't line up even on pr1000. Not sure if t2 is 2in or 50mm metric spacing, but rep is slightly over. That said, I had no issues.
