In this video we take a full tour of the new 13.4" GM Infotainment system found in the 2022+ Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra. This new system has Google Assistant built in for just about any command you can think of! This system has built in wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay as well as Google Maps as the on board navigation software. Of course these trucks feature OTA updates as well as 4G LTE connectivity with built in Wi-Fi hotspots too. Make sure to check out my other videos regarding this 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2!

It should be noted, that to add additional profiles select your name (or in this case where is says "Driver") in the upper left of the screen to manage profiles. Something to try if you run into issues accessing them through "Settings".

I am glad you did this, but if you fix mount your camera, turn the autofocus off, it was very distracting it hunting focus all the time.

I have a 2023 yukon with rear seat infotainment with premium package. Vehicle shows connected to wifi. When I go to the rear seats and click on hulo or youtube it says I have no subscription. Can you provide me with a fix. I have called Onstar numerous time.

Question, in car play mode you are able to open google maps and use satellite map, can you do that in google maps while using the built in app?

Yes but this vehicle only works with active on star plan. Data package is needed. Your car play is just mirroring from the iPhone so no data charge from GM. Google map built in this silverado is onstar data plan.

Just picked up a new truck. I've noticed I can use the radio and maps on the same 13.4" screen. Nice! Question - is it possible to switch these two? Currently, the radio takes up about 9" and the maps is about 4". I'd like to switch the maps to the left and the radio to the right. Thank you.

Yes this should be possible. If you go to the home screen and open "maps" it should open the maps on the larger side and radio (or another option) on the smaller side. If you swipe up and down on the small side you can switch between items.

Unfortunately, I do not have a truck to try this on at the moment. There may be a setting that allows one to resume playback.

I wish someone could explain text messaging on this new 13.4. When my phone is paired, I get no notification when a text message arrives. However, if I drive with the Android Auto engaged, I will get a notification. However, if you press any other button you go out of Android Auto and have to go back in if you want notifications. What a pain. Seems to me that staying in Android Auto defeats the purpose of the built in Google OS.

Standard traffic map VS satellite view : I’ve only caught a glimpse on one video describing the new shifter but is there a button I’m missing to see satellite view? Thanks

I cannot recall exactly if there is a way to see satellite view from above the vehicle but I am sure there is. That is typically the "surround view" view if that makes sense.

@@JustinKelly I’m referring more to the detail of the Google maps itself. (Satellite view where you see all the trees, houses, businesses vs just a plain map that shows roads, etc. someone commented that probably what I saw was a new screen where android auto or car play was being used and projecting Google maps through AA/Apple car play

Do you have to have 4glte plan to use the Google features? Or does it work through your cell phone service? Or is the 4glte service provided by the truck free?

Great question! I believe the Google Assistant is part of a trial and turns into a paid feature if you would like to keep it functioning. I am not 100% on that but I believe TFL Truck did a video on it recently.

You have to pay. $29.00 for Goggle Maps $14.99 for the My GMC App. This make your wireless Apple CarPlay work. You can also start lock and unlock your truck using the app on your phone. $15.00 for the LTE data plan. If you don’t pay for the Google Maps they will not work. Not even a offline version will work. I paid for the my GMC app and I have wireless Apple CarPlay. You can still use the Google maps that are on your phone via Apple CarPlay. But it will not utilize the entire screen. And oh by the way, my salesman never explained any of this to me.

@@CautiousDavid nope. Just one month. Then you'll have to pay an overpriced monthly subscription to use "your" vehicle to it's full potential. Wait till the paid ads start popping up on that beautiful 13" screen. Don't worry though, there will be a monthly subscription charge for an ad free driving experience.

On the radio icon, the auto volume control is no where to be found. Even my 2003 vehicles have that where the cab noise increases, the radio increases or vise versa. Where is that option?

No. Digital is at the top and there is another digital clock you can enable on your cluster

So with all the advances in automotive technology.. is it possible to display video from a bluetooth/wlan camera on that big screen? Through Apple CarPlay or...? I ordered a 2024 3500HD but was too pricey with the backup camera system. I pull a 40' 5th-wheel camper, and have been sitting my GoPro cam in the bed of the truck, and can display the video on my phone.. but is there a way to push that video to the infotainment screen ?

There might be a way to hack something through Android Auto or CarPlay but I would recommend the new view camera and/or trailering cameras built in.

@@JustinKelly Do you have any idea how much adding the trailering camera pkg is? You can't just add the cameras, it mandates the addition of several other items with it.. and it's freakin' crazy expensive ! But thanks for responding .

When shes actively talking, turn the volume down. That will lower turn by turn navigation audio.

Very valid question! We haven't had another refreshed 2022 yet, but one should be in shortly. I will try to remember to check. I assume it would work, however, the view would be skewed as the cameras are out of position.

I am not 100% after the trial period. Possibly to get full functionality however some of the more basic features should still work without it.

2022 Silverado rst “P” parking assistance botton don’t turn on .Can someone tell me if it's normal that it doesn't beep when I reverse? Camera works but I would like the beep alert using reverse

Are you referring to the backup sensors? Many Silverado's have shipped without this function working because of electronic chip shortages. The window sticker of the truck will say if its "not equipped" and should have a small credit of $50-100 or so if this is the case.

The only application that uses the entire screen is Google maps. And you have to pay for that service. All other applications use the split screen.

2022 model locks you out of usb while driving. You get the first 8 songs. Definitely getting rid of this truck asap

If you have the pre-refresh truck that's because it is based on an older infotainment design.

Do you have anything plugged into the truck? My adapter for my dashcam was causing this same thing. I just plug it in after I start the truck and it’s been good.

You can drive up to 13mph unbuckled. 14 starts the chime. You can turn the volume down on the chime.

Sounds like the navigation volume is turned down. Try navigating to your grocery store - and anticipate the turn and try turning up the volume about when the navigation instruction would occur. If it was turned down separate from the radio this may take some trial and error to catch the navigation. The buttons on the back side of the steering wheel may be easier

@@jayinsw So, in the refresh models, you kinda don’t need the HUD. If you set your dash up right, it shows the speed in a fairly big font at the top of the display. Or you can put it in the center of the display in an even larger font. I thought for sure I’d miss the HUD from my AT4, but I don’t need it in my 22 Elevation.

There’s a dealer update to the radio cutting out. The speed limit not showing is due to google maps.

Awesome when it works. But it never works. 500 miles on truckno audio on anything. Numerous others with same issue!!! Hope GM rectifies this situation properly. If not i will never buy a chevy again Dont have these issues with Acuras

I haven't had a chance to use Carplay on this screen but make sure you have full screen Carplay enabled on your phone settings.

There is no such setting in your phone settings. As of now Apple CarPlay doesn’t use the entire screen. Maybe in the future. Screen haven’t been this big for very long.

All I wanted was a Navagation that can drop Bread crumbs, I dont care about reading News or and of the rediculous APPs. Ford has by FAR the Best Nav!!!!

Yup. I was afraid of that… No one is going to talk about the 2 biggest problems with this radio/infotainment setup. 1) Reflections. Glares. Smudges. (Dare I say worse than chrome interiors) 2) Controls “driving” functions. Imagine the touchscreen/digitizer breaks… $$$$ to replace the damn radio to drive the truck. 🙄🤯
