Just recently got into politics the last yr or so, and damn I finally get the Buchanan stuff. That guy was....whew. What a guy. Pat Buchanan is so conservative that _even "well-respected conservative political pundit" Charles Krauthammer wrote and spoke of him being a fascist_ , using that word specifically. And while I disagree with his conservatism, Krauthammer is not the type to throw around labels willy-nilly. "How Pat Buchanan, Secret Nazi, Paved The Way For Donald Trump", pod ep 73 of "Behind the Bastards" goes into this too. In that episode Cody Johnson and Katy from "Some More News" were guests, and they all did a great job exploring the minutia of who Buchanan is. Btw, this might be petty, but "Chris J", way down in the comment section below, under "Tony Marconi"s comment, who said Ben is "misguided" to dislike Trump and says Ben is "deranged") is crazy like FOX News. Actually he's worse, he's subbed to OANN (One America News Network), an even worse version of FOX that is overtly authoritarian white-nationalist, or at the very least, an ultra-pro-Trump right-wing authoritarian nationalist propaganda outlet. People thought Chris was "just trolling", no he was not guys. People like Chris J. really do get sucked into such stuff. Edit: Watch "Some More News" if you like sarcastic and ironic news coverage from a left perspective that's better than those late night talk show guys, look into Buchanan if you're a millennial or younger and aren't aware of Pat's fascistic (or "very, very conservative", as "keedt" put it) tendencies, and realize that when right wingers like Krauthammer call other right wingers "fascists" and/or call out their racism, anti-semitism or other bigotry, there might be something to look into there, since it's extremely rare for the right to call out racism, homophobia, anti-semitism, or general bigotry of anyone in their own ranks, since those kinds of things when brought up by right wingers are usually projected onto leftists, despite the vast majority of it existing on the right. Sorry for bringing political stuff into a chess stream video, and I know that fascism is a scary topic for people, but just in case anyone else was unaware of who Buchanan was (and is), it was my pleasure to supply you with both a left and a right-wing source that detailed Buchanan's fascism. For those previously unaware of Buchanan, you're welcome.

2:09:15 Qxd4 Nc6 Bxf6 Nxd4 all okay, but after Bxd8 black cannot play Rxd8 immediately because Knight on d4 is undefended and white instead of e3 can play Nxd4 and it’s already +3,3 which gives slightly advantage for white so you might not remember it well because if I saw that GM had to saw it as well, instead of Rxd8 I guess the only move is this inbetween Nxf3+ and after e or gxf3 only now Rxd8 capturing the Bishop. On the subject of best of all time. A lot of the modern grand masters have hot and cold streaks. This is true for Magnus, Caruana, So, MVL, and most others. Magnus has mostly been hot in 2019, up to the last two tourniments. Were the old grandmasters immune from this? Not saying Magnus is the GOAT, but he does have advantages the GMs from before the modern age and would fare well in some impossible fantacy tournament of all the #1 players through history.
@forkevbot
@forkevbot 4 жыл бұрын
Kasparov dominated all of the competition because they were all much worse than him. Magnus does not look as good as Kasparov because the competition is much steeper now imo. This is evidenced by the rating gaps of the players. To go a little further in depth, Karpov was basically the only real competition Kasparov had and obviously since Kasparov was younger he dominated once Karpov aged out and no one stepped up to compete at his level. Kasparov wiped the floor with people with ratings 100+ points less than his and this isn't just because he was amazing but because his opponents were not. If Kasparov had a Fabiano, MVL, Liren, Giri, So, Anand all around during his prime it would honestly have been more impressive if he overcame them. Just my interpretation of the situation now vs with Kasparov. Ivanchuk and Anand were the only ones who started to sneak up to his level, but the rankings in general were more steady then. Now it is anybody's game in the top 5-10 which just goes to show how strong the competition is.
@btdrunkartist8292
@btdrunkartist8292 4 жыл бұрын
@@forkevbot dude shut up. Anand is 50 and is out playing everyone,that means the level is not even close to Kasparov's. Kasparov on his prime would beat these players with ease. Even Anand at his prime would beat these players. Magnus Drawsen is overrated and overhyped by media...that's why people expect him to win some games but he draws all the time and wins on play offs. Fabiano,Ding Liren are better players at classical than him. And that's a dead ass fact.
@keedt
@keedt 4 жыл бұрын
@@btdrunkartist8292 what's the difference between being "on his prime" and "at his prime"? and how does it compare to "in his prime"? Can you explain how the media are able to increase his Elo rating? Why are Ding and Caruana 60 rating points below Carlsen in classical rating if they are better at classical chess ?
@btdrunkartist8292
@btdrunkartist8292 4 жыл бұрын
@@keedt Listen,kid. I am not saying he is not a good player..he is great. But he is overhyped. They called him the mozart of chess,he drew a 42 years old Kasparov and lost to him..that was considered to be a huge deal. Meanwhile you have indian guys like Pragg who are much better than Carlsen at that age but nobody gives a shit about them. He is the least dominant champion ever. Anand is 50 and playing better than these guys ??!! Another reason why you see Carlsen get mad so often because the expectations of him are so high.. 2019 was his best year so far and yet his last tournament before sinquefield was embarrasing. I think Caruana and Ding Liren are better players than him at classical. They are people who take risks. It's not only me who is saying that,you have OG GM like Finegold who think Magnus is not even the best in the world yet some idiot say he is the G.O.A.T which is crazy idiotic.
@forkevbot
@forkevbot 4 жыл бұрын
@@btdrunkartist8292 you're a moron. Who took Anand's world championship title from him? Anand then was definitely on par with Karpov when Kasparov beat him. And yet somehow Magnus is worse.

Just adding to your discussion at about 1h:44m: Actually, it's not at all clear that chess is a draw with perfect play, see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solving_chess. You're arguing that it is, but simply with an argument of experience, as: "no GM will tell you otherwise"... but that's not a proof. Just since everybody "believes" it is a draw (me included) doesn't make it a fact. And oh boy, has mankind believed in stupid "facts" that were proven wrong eventually. So, who knows ?
