Merry Christmas guys! This takes me back. It was 1990 or so and I needed a remote mirror for my '74 Caprice. During a trip to NC I said oh wow this place is worth looking for one, all sorts of old cars in a field. There was 75 model fullsize Chevy with one, shiny chrome still,I said "they all have to be same". Wrong . Brought it home and was so disappointed a month later when I got to it. The doohickey knob didn't mount to the panel same or was diff style (3 wire vs 4?) and the 2 posts were off by a hair too somehow. I was determined to see it work so took both apart and married parts I needed together. Joy when it was completed.

The date codes on the mirrors decode as (month)-DMI-(year). So if the date code is 4-DMI-3, the mirror was made in April of '73. DMI is short for Donnelly Mirror Incorporated. Some GM mirrors are made by Ajax and are marked 'AX" instead of "DMI".
