GMC Terrain - BATTERY REPLACEMENT / REMOVAL (2010 - 2017)

Step-by-step guide on how to replace / remove / install battery on GMC Terrain SUV. If your GMC Terrain is not starting, hesitates while starting the engine or it needs a boost on colder temperatures it is definitely time to test / change the battery. ( 2010 | 2011 | 2012 | 2013 | 2014 | 2015 | 2016 | 2017 | SLE | SLT | DENALI ).
Car battery on GMC Terrain is located under the front hood, just under the PCM (main vehicle computer). To access the battery first you will have to remove the pcm. You can do that by sliding of the cover off it and then removing the 10mm screw holding it in place. Move the PCM to the side. Now you have full access to the battery.
Again, before you can remove that battery, you will have to remove the battery holder which is held by two 10mm nut/screw. To access the 2nd screw you will have to remove the plastic cover just above the left headlight.
Finally once the battery holder is removed, you can unscrew and disconnect the battery terminals. Always first disconnect negative battery pole.
When installing new battery into your GMC Terrain, make sure to first connect positive battery terminal. For the complete instructions watch the video.

Don't feel bad many Phds and Professors could not get that battery out. Rendered EZ due to this video. Its now part of university curriculum.

Thanks for the videos Stosh. I have some water coming in through a broken seal on the rear tail light which in turn slowly drained the battery. These engineers have such a way of engineering things these days...I mean, who would put the positive lead some close to a metal ground. I'm disappointed in this lack of engineering it being my first time seeing this on my 80 year old mothers car.

The plate on top of the battery,what does it control? It’s humming.

PCM is on top of the battery. It is the main computer which controls everything on the car

my issue right now is the battery hold down bracket under the PCM suddenly doesn’t wanna fit with the new battery I installed. This is why i’m a ford person. I don’t even rage at my own vehicle like this 😂

Hi, sorry you are having troubles. Most likely you installed wrong battery size so that's why battery holder doesn't fit. Terrain takes Battery Group 47
