maybe not in this game, but it shouldn't surprise anyone if it turned out that kramnik did a fair amount of cheating. there are countless examples in many different domains of a person being extremely vocal against something only to find out that person is guilty of doing the very thing they are so passionately speaking out against. i'm not at all suggesting that kramnik is cheating, just that it wouldn't be shocking to me.

He most likely did cheat a lot during his world championship matches, as it was a time when Russia sponsored a lot of cheating. It’s understandable that a cheater would assume others at the highest level are cheating, because he himself cheated at the highest level.

@@chappo8100 I don't agree with that at all. What Kramnik is doing nowadays is laughable, but it's way too much of a stretch to assume that therefore he cheated in the World Championships (or at any other point in his career).

You can go to almost any prize tournament where ordinary titled players play (not only the top GM) and you can see in almost all of these tournaments, if not in all, there are clear cheating problems. In prize events with "mediocre" titled players this is classic and Kramnik is completely right about it. I come right now from the actual titled tuesday tournament and i have seen very weird stuff there (and players that had cheating scandals in the past playing the titled tuesday (not very well known)). Kramnik was clearly wrong with Nakamura, but there is a huge problem with cheating in chess, specially now that computers destroy humans at chess. In the past it was an issue but today is a plague since anyone can cheat with AI (even with human style of play)

The new chess meta will be to get your opponent to think you are cheating without actually cheating, causing them to play poorly and then getting them to gaslight themselves.
