Hands down my favorite type of content from him. I've rewatched the 1500-1800 range of every speedrun he's ever done, multiple times over. But just the 3 minute formats... I have a hard time enjoying his bullet speedruns. The "meta" for bullet is just so different - Hikaru just overloads them with attack after attack, until they either flag, or blunder every piece. It's just not satisfying to watch, because players at that level don't even realize how badly they lost. But that's why the 3 minute games are so satisfying and entertaining. Because the opponents actually have time to understand the position, strategize & gain confidence, then slowly realize they're playing someone really good. I've rewatched all his 3 min speedruns in the 1400-1800 range so many times... ie Garbage speedrun, Eye tracker speedrun, disrespect speedrun, Canditates Prep speedrun, Legendary Openings Speedrun... shit, even the OG "blitz speedrun" from like 2019. The Botez Gambit Speedrun was sorta interesting, but I feel like once he started waiting until move 8-15 to sac the queen... it sorta defeated the purpose/entertainment value for me (make horrible moves/"blunder" a piece early, to make opponent confident, then slowly crush their hopes... in the Botez speedrun, most of his opponents were fully tilted & had no hope whatsoever by the time he sacked his queen and many resigned before the queen sac because Hikaru had dominated them so thoroughly and was already up material). The absolute best speedrun was his OG Bongcloud speedrun. That shit was legendary... I watched the 1300-1800 range probably every night for around a year. Unfortunately, his genius editors removed it (bc of copyright), without first backing up the footage... so now the 14-1900 elo range is lost forever, sucks 😢. Most people's favorite content is his Titled Tuesday / Arena Kings tournaments, but for me it's too advanced to understand it all. I like watching him smash people who I can understand the tactics they're trying, see (and even be intimidated by) the threats they're posing to Hikaru and the positional concepts that normally work on me... then see Hikaru casually dismantle them with subtle, basic defensive moves that shut them down entirely until they break mentally.

Do you think he really did it with a "Trickster mentality"..? The first time I saw it I thought it was just a spite check.. and of course taking with queen is the most natural answer.. I really doubt he truly hoped for Hikaru to recapture with the King and fall into the fork, but who knows?

Wow. Hikaru puts so much respect on Magnus. He almost does himself a disservice with the way he compares Magnus' abilities to his own, but I'm glad he doesn't cushion his comments so no one can say he's egotistical or farming drama
