Andrews quotes were significantly less effective knowing aa chess grandmaster is watching

@advaitkamath8442 Жыл бұрын
Did not even quote it right, it is "The ability to play chess is the sign of a gentleman. The ability to play chess well is the sign of a wasted life" and this was said by Paul morphy, when he quit chess. Edit: I don't think people got the message, Firstly andrew tate said " a well played game" and "and expertly played game", in this quote it is saying the ability, also the fact that chess today and it over 100 years ago are different, so he did not really give contexts as at that time people could not make money off of the game, the world chess championship was not a thing, no one wanted to learn chess and paul morphy was playing at 2500, while the other best would play at 2000, but now the top 40 players can beat the best player and sometimes under that, most have a play strength of 3000, so many people want to learn it, that they will pay 30-60 dollars an hour.

When it comes to chess and inteligence,I agree, with hikaru, because a high level of logical mathematical intelligence is not needed,just a basic level(simple causation,if p then q) ,what is needed in chees to be a strong player is high levels of spacial and visual intwlligence,with basic logical mathematical intelligence ,one does not need a advanced level grasp of logic to be a good chess player.

The problem with that logic is that the strategic thinking in chess doesn’t really apply to real life. That’s the same as saying you use your hand muscles to move pieces, and using your hands is very useful later in life. There are very general connections, but chess is mostly about pattern recognition and calculation speed.
@marcmaeda4905

@@marchplaysgames693 Ironically I believe the problem with your logic is you don't realize it's not only chess humans extrapolate knowledgeable experiences and lessons from but all walks of life. "Chess is mostly about pattern recognition and calculation speed". possibly... however, while they may be a part of chess I'd argue humans have the capability of taking away multiple different lessons and or life philosophies from any experience as a whole. For instance, chess has taught me through real experiences how bad my decision making skills deteriorate when negative emotion is present, and ways in which I can correct that. Ben Finegold has a video called "The reason why people don't get better at chess", I'd say I've learned a ton about life from just that video as a whole. The idea being ( If you do not seriously analyze your past blunders you are bound to make them again. The formula for failure is an error in judgement made continuously over a consistent period of time.) Chess has the possibility to teach many different ideas and concepts to many different people, however just because you do not have the same takeaways does not mean they don't exist or cannot occur within the minds of others.

When it comes to chess and inteligence,I agree, with hikaru, because a high level of logical mathematical intelligence is not needed,just a basic level(simple causation,if p then q) ,what is needed in chees to be a strong player is high levels of spacial and visual intwlligence,with basic logical mathematical intelligence ,one does not need a advanced grasp of logic to be a good chess player.

I don't think you can get the luck factor 100% out of chess. Some times people miscalculate and it results in a good result that was lucky. If we could calculate every single move, we could eliminate the luck factor from every aspect of life
@akeclipsee
@akeclipsee 11 күн бұрын
But living life as if it's mostly dependent on luck and not self accountability is a bad mentality and makes you give up. You can see it in another way: Some people start with less/more pieces in life. It's almost always winnable, but it's definitely harder and needs fewer mistakes or more brilliant moves than someone with more pieces.

I would say that chess can make you "smarter" in the same way that video games can make you "smarter". Improving aspects of your thinking in a different environment so that they can be used elsewhere. Chess making you better at pattern recognition and video games making you better at distinguishing importing information from noise don't turn you automatically into a rocket surgeon, but they do transfer over to other areas where they are needed, like behavioral studies or driving, respectively
