This time I'm building a gmk67 for my friend Ryan! I'm so grateful for your support in the past video. I loved seeing all your comments and responding to them :) never would have thought people would watch videos from a noob like me :') Anyway, in this build I tried out the clay mod. Have always wanted to use it to add weight to budget plastic boards and I'm pretty satisfied with what it has done for this board!

Here are the keeb specs:
GMK67
Lubed, holee modded, wire-balanced stock stabilizers
Removed case foam and IXPE sheet
Added 1mm PE foam sheet
Added clay to replace case foam
3 layer tape mod
KTT blueberry switches (lubed with Krytox 205g0 for stems and housings, Krytox 105g0 for the springs)

Nice video! I am waiting for my gmk67 (first custom keyboard) Just one question, Did you have to make holes on the IXPE sheet for the switches? I've seen some people making holes in the tape/foam when they mod their keyboards

Thank you!!! Nope I didn’t have to make holes :) for the foam it’s mainly so that the switches can pierce through to contact the PCB but I didn’t have issues with that as my PE foam is 1mm thin :) for the tape, its mainly if the board is tray mounted so you can screw the PCB+plate into the case but GMK67 is gasket mounted so you don’t have to worry about that! Make sure to cut holes for the JST cable though :)

Thank you for your kind comment!!! The total build at that time including shipping of all parts was about $130-$150 (sgd)! So about $100 USD :) you could probably get it for much cheaper now though I think!

Does that clay make a lot of difference or can I go by without having to mod with that clay?

Hi! The clay mod gives it a fuller sound due to the addition of weight but you could achieve a similar result with polyfill :)

why use the pe foam instead of ixpe? i thought the ixpe foam gives deeper sound and also is safer for the board, please correct me if I am wrong.

PE foam gives a deeper and creamier sound profile :) I haven’t had issues with using PE foam!

Hey man, im having a hard time deciding on the keycaps for my gmk67 lol, that one similar to yours i found and liked but its cherry profile but im hoping for an mda or asa profile. What's your opinion on that keycap? Ill be using it for work and fps gaming sometimes.

Hey!! Personally for ASA profile keycaps I use a wrist rest because they are quite high. But I love ASA profile keycaps so I just own a wrist rest! For cherry and mda profiles a wrist rest will be good but not really necessary! Depends if you wanna have a wrist rest on your table HAHA

@@keyblobs Thanks! That settles the keycaps for me then. Thank you! I was also already planning to get wrist rest for the aesthetic purposes on the desk but i guess it would be functional now. One more thing, sorry 🙇 Gmk67 would be my first custom keeb, but i really need a way to access function keys like f6 to f8 for work, idk if gmk67 have a "fn" key (i know they dont have f rows). Couldn't convince myself with other 75% keyboard that are just as cheap and good with features like the gmk67. I can find good ones but it would be over budget with this build i am going with.

Yes! The GMK has a FN key, and you can use the software to customise the keys as well :) the FN key is on the right beside the ctrl! Personally I don’t like to use the F row and just use this key with the numbers haha. If you want to find a 75% keyboard, what would be your budget? I can recommend you some boards! :)

Hey!! I think the impt part is protecting the plasticine from the PCB! So the layer of tape on the PCB will ensure that :) so far there’s no issues with the board!

I used plasticine! Before filming this video I actually opened the packaging to see what it’s like and it didn’t dry out after 2 months :)

Hey!! Thank you!! I used some random tape I had lying at home but masking or painters tape would work the same! I had to buy 300g worth of plasticine :)

@keyblobs Sorry for all the questions, but did you poke holes in the PE foam for the switches' pins? First time doing this mod and I'm unsure if I need to do that

No worries! Nope I used only 1mm PE foam so I didn’t poke holes. For 2mm PE foam I’ll poke holes :)

I know I'm kind of late but, is there a sound test of this keyboard after just lubing the stabilizers? I don't want to do the other stuff to keep the sound the same as the original.

Hey!! I’m using the V2 :D I enjoy the KTT Kang whites a lot! They are slightly heavier than the blueberries :) You have to lube it though. Recently I tried the aniya and bsun BCPs and I really liked them :) are you looking for a linear or tactile switch? :)

Hey! Kang whites have a creamier sound compared to the blueberries! The Kang whites are scratchy stock so I highly recommend you lube them! If not you could go for the Akko cream switches which come pretty good prelubed :)

Ooo! I really enjoy using PBTFans keycaps :) they are really high quality PBT keycaps :D I’ve used JKDK keycaps and they’re pretty good! I’m also gonna try out some keytok keycaps and I’ll recommend them to you if they’re good :)

HEY! Sorry I haven’t tried the lychee g66 pro but the GMK67 will definitely not disappoint! I highly recommend the Gas67 as well! I just made a video on it :) it all comes down to personal preference but I prefer the GMK67!

as far as we know, these look very similar to keycaps originally designed by us first for our RYOKO series, its called SHIRAKAWA Keycap set released around June 2021

The clay mod is work better than poron foam, and much cheaper.

Hmm! Depends on what sound you’re looking for imo! Poron foam definitely mutes the board more than clay mod :)
