For "a little more experienced" beginners: I also first used general pid to control ships / hovercraft / submarines. The next step for me was: use a singe breadboard (non AI is ok). In a breadboard you can add the same behaviour in a single block. Yes, you will need a tutorial or two for a breadboard, but it is so handy to use them instead general pid! Especially if you are stabilizing a heli and want to add some weired movement behaviour, like bouncing up and down...

Really? You are one of the tutorial-masters of FtD and didn't go breadboard yet? 😳 Maybe check it out and you will probably never go back to general pid! 👍

@@GMODISM Hay man.. just leaving a friendly comment. Larthland made a sub that could chnage altitude with helium.. ( i expect this could be used for flyers aswel). I´ve by the power of help have made a sub that can do that. but for some wierd reason it needs 2? controllers? one for sailing U/H/J/K.. and one for altitude T/G etc. His however didn't need that. And i wonder... Using a simple pid.. if i set a fake point to x, and use T as green and G as Red, in the same PID... why wont it respond to my comments? since you one of the master i hope you would have an answer or solution i could understand... I have yet to venture into bread.. but if this wont work.. i might be forced to it.

MATLAB has a great video on what the PID values do. Hillarious to see a small wooden raft firing a gigantic advanced cannon way too big for itself being relatively stable in combat.

I've seen some improvised gyroscopes in workshop thruster crafts, as in BB-controlled spinblocks that react to your craft's orientational error. No idea how practical it actually is, but I do like it's implications. Any info on that by chance?

No need to use bread, you can do it with ACBs, if you wanna see it in action I build a motorbike on my 2nd channel gmodist in a stream VOD.
