I've got three, great radios and quality. Only fault is the batteries don't charge the best and don't accept usbc to usbc; only from usbA, and the battery indicator isn't very accurate. However, the battery lasts longer than claimed. Other than that, it's a great radio.

Great comparison video. As a new GMRS licensee, I have really been delving into the various brands and their GMRS offerings. Really impressed with the Wouxun KG-935G Plus and the BTECH GMRS Pro. Was surprised at how much clearer the BTECH was than the other radios. The texting and location sharing, Bluetooth, GPS and IP rating features really stand out for the BTECH. Looks like a great radio.

The BTECH sounded so crisp and clear, and it's jam packed with cool features, but the Rocky Talky was not far behind in terms of clarity, yet it looks quite more robust and utilitarian, like something that would survive real use. Great comparison overall, man! Keep up the good work, I really appreciate such useful videos!

Since my first GMRS radio is a Baofeng GMRS-9R (essentially dust/water proof), I'm used to its sound (which is pretty good) and was able to communicate over a 100' hill to the other radio almost a mile away, which amazed me (my FRS handhelds did NOT communicate across the same hill.) Since I do a lot of outdoor hiking and such the BTECH would be my choice (but I'm happy with my 9R too if I had a separate GPS/compass unit with me)

A nice video. I have been using these radios for years. It's FM voice in the UHF range, but the cost for advance features has come way down. Some chip differences in how speech is processed and display differences change how the info is presented, but science is science. The five-mile distance is rarely achievable at ground level with buildings in the way. Expect about a mile, unless one radio is high enough to have line-of-site to the other radio (or they are both high enough to be free of obstructions). At that point you are at the mercy of the radios' power and antenna. Those are nice, fancy radios in the $150 and $200 dollar range, but unless you are made of money, there's no reason to spend that for these radios, especially if you have to buy one for each member of the family. The $35 Baofeng is fine, and they are generally pretty tough. I've had one bouncing around in my truck for years, and another has traveled all over the country with me. I've lost a few too, dropped some on the trail, off my bike, etc. That's a lot more acceptable at $35 a unit than $150. A different, more efficient antenna, and one that has a cable and can be operated away from your RF-absorbing head, will increase range significantly, with much more bang for the buck than spending money on the other features. Finally, there's a lot more to using these radios than just pushing the button. People with mess with you, so learn how to use them, develop a plan for what to do if you are being interfered with, have a plan for frequency changes, privacy codes used, etc. Maybe you need to stop communicating for a bit and change channels, etc., but plan that in advance and practice it a few times.

The baofeng is the best bang for your buck, imo. The btech has a ton of great features and is on my wishlist, but I'm on a baofeng budget😅. I almost believe that the couple uv-5r's that I have for hiking are near bullet proof after all the stuff I've put them through 😂.

I have a bunch of Baofeng GMRS-9Rs and just ordered a Wouxun KG-UV9GX. My GMRS-9Rs all have Nagoya 771Gs on them and easily hit my local repeater that 16 miles line of sight inside my bedroom. On the Wouxun i ordered I also ordered a Smiley antenna but do have extra 771Gs and adapters if i dont like the Smiley. Too many GMRS radios to choose a favorite but out of thenones your showing i want to get a Btech GMRS Pro, Wouxan KG-935G Plus, and a Tidradio TD-H8. You can never have too many radios. Lol. If i had to choose which radio i would buy next it probably be a pair of BTech GMRS Pros. Gotta have two to take advantage if the GPS feature.

I would agree with most of what you said. I own several of the radios in this review, but i would have to disagree with you on the ailunce ha1g. Its fairly simple to use out the box if you are just a standard gmrs user, but if you want to go into details, its packed with a lot that gets overlooked. It has multiple zones to you can program frequencies to based off location or how frequent you use them. For example if you have several custom DIY channels that you have ctcss tones programmed into you can set all those into a zone to quick scroll through. You can have a zone labelled as repeaters, and have all the repeaters programmed into that zone. Etc…. Or you can program zones based off different repeaters in a particular area, like if you are traveling and know you will be passing by certain repeaters on your trip, you can program a zone that has those repeaters all in it separate from your others…. Its a nice way of organizing and planning. It also has call lists that work with dtmf tones when linking nodes. You can preprogram the node command and node hub numbers that you regularly use in the call lists. I have my aux button under the PTT programmed for call lists. Then whenever i want to link your node with a hub, i literally push that button, it pops up with all my programmed node commands, and i click the one i want to link and it automatically sends dtmf tones and programs it without having to PTT and manually type it in. The ailunce also allows you to customize each channel individually. You can set your squelch different on each channel. You can set your bandwidth different on each channel, tail squelch eliminator different on each channel, etc….. its actually a very complex radio once you dive into it and does many things the others cant do. Yeah it may work for a beginner who just picks a pre programmed gmrs channel and uses it as is…. But out of all besides the btech gmrs pro, id be willing to say it is the most advanced function wise. Its basically an analog gmrs version of the DMR HA1 radio ailunce makes.

I have three Baofeng 2m-70cm ham HT's, all different models. they work great for distance on transmitting and receiving through a repeater. but they are terrible on receiving interference when using simplex, far from any man made source deep into the national forest. I was hesitant on getting a Icom or Yaesu HT because of this, until I got the Wouxun KG-UV9GX. Wouxun has much better filtering. I can place them side by side with all the Baofengs on while driving around the forest and only the Baofengs receive this intermittent interference on the same frequency.
