It’s a Ukrainian song in a techno-folk genre. This song type/tradition is almost a millennium old, it's a ritualistic song about an ancient pagan forest deity called Shum. The song is meant to call Shum to bring Spring faster and say goodbye to Winter. And the instrument you hear is of a flute family, but actually a traditional Ukrainian (or rather old-Slavic) wind instrument - "sopilka". This is one of the most used instruments in Ukrainian traditional songs. She is also singing in a traditional throat singing style, also called “white voice”. It's a beautiful combination of Ukrainian traditions and modern sound :) P.S.: the meaning of the song is also about season changing. In this context, ending of the pandemic (the Winter) and beginning of new era aka new Spring.

You should just watch Eurovision next time. There's always gems like this in there!

I like the 3 minute ESC version a bit more. Especially the video for it is amazing. Jim, you should check that out as well, it transports a very different vibe, although it's technically the same song (but only shortened a bit to fit the ESC rules).

you should watcht the live version from the grand finale of eurovision 2021, it’s incredible and got a huge score in the televoting (sadly the jury didn’t give it many points, they still came in 5th overall tho)

You should react the final version of the same song (they had to fix this song a bit, dont remember why) and both the music vid and live performance show much better what this song is about; Its a pre-Christian Slavic ritual to summon the pagan spirit "Shum", the god of Spring.
