I live in Atlanta and I did use my get home bag that night. I was stuck overnight ins publix parking lot and all stores were closed. Thankfully I had my bag. My wife had hers in her trunk which she used stranded on 41 near Cumberland mall.

just letting yall know that I have made the Vaseline and cotton ball fire starters. I made them after watching the video you put out a few weeks ago. They work wonders! Also, for storage I put them in an empty mini MM's container. (long) it hold about 10 cotton balls so it is perfect for backpacking. Additionally, if you for some reason run out of cotton balls, the tube itself can be used to store some Vaseline in the bottom for use in other situations. (can work as a sealant for watertight containers in a pinch.) Great vid, can't wait for the next part!

The sawyer mini is the best filter out there. It's got an 0.1 micron filter and will filter up to 100,000 gallons. It also threads onto any water bottle or Platypus. And you get all that at an affordable price and it only weighs in at 2 ounces. I'll be using one on my AT trough hike this year. Awesome video btw.

Don, My grown-up children learned their basic skills from me. This is a good thing because she had fallen for a guy 2000 miles from home and took off to be with him (DUMB) right but in the end her cell phone was gone and she needed help so dad drove 2000 miles to the rescue found in 30 min. because she did what I had trained her to do, stayed near the location she knew I would come to.

I agree with your comments on cold weather.. especially if it is not part of your yearly life. I Grew up in Colorado and now live in rural eastern Maine. we to have had a long cold winter. Also remember that also fluid is need for the hot summer time too. We also have a mini pic-nic tote that we usually carry. I some times go SUV camping with my dog and I have small Rubbermaid tote that has canned tuna / chicken / Vienna sausages / crackers / a package of gummy worms and paper towels and most of all a good can opener (swing-away) Gatorade works well for rehydration. Note a couple of cans of sardines or kippers works well for dogs and cats and can be used for people food if no dog or cat with you... hope this was a help... HCinMaine 04630....

but what about keeping water in a below freezing climate, not really the best thing to keep in your bag as it bursts the bottle

Listening to them going on and on about a little snow and ice kills me, they have no idea when it comes to snow and ice. As far as I'm concerned that is called unpreparedness. Being prepared is being prepared for all situations, rain, cold, ice snow and heat.The world is changing fast folks, it's time to get with the program. Time to start thinking outside of the box people, that would include snow and ice in Atlanta and hot temps in the arctic. Global warming is changing the earth's climate regions very fast so you better be ready for it or your just unprepared. I was working in the Arctic last year and we actually saw temps on the verge of triple digits. If your a climate change denier then your a lousy prepper to say the least. Embrace the suck folks, learn about snow and ice, it may just save your life one day. Be prepared for the ever changing global environment.

I have to say I really like that bag I don't like the idea of having a tactical looking bag or a military bag thinking it would make me stick out and be targeted. don't get me wrong I really like military gear it is some of the best stuff ever made and I would put my military gear in my pack but would not want the stand out with a tactical or military bag. good video
