Writer/director/producer M. Night Shyamalan returns to the captivating grip of The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs with Split, an original thriller that delves into the mysterious recesses of one man’s fractured, gifted mind. Following last year’s breakout hit The Visit, Shyamalan reunites with producer Jason Blum (The Purge and Insidious series, The Gift) for the film.
While the mental divisions of those with dissociative identity disorder have long fascinated and eluded science, it is believed that some can also manifest unique physical attributes for each personality, a cognitive and physiological prism within a single being.
Though Kevin (James McAvoy) has evidenced 23 personalities to his trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher (Betty Buckley), there remains one still submerged who is set to materialize and dominate all the others. Compelled to abduct three teenage girls led by the willful, observant Casey (Anya Taylor-Joy, The Witch), Kevin reaches a war for survival among all of those contained within him-as well as everyone around him-as the walls between his compartments shatter apart.
For Split, Shyamalan and Blum reassemble their core team from The Visit. Their fellow collaborators include producer Marc Bienstock and executive producers Ashwin Rajan and Steven Schneider.

I really liked the way he played each alter with the noticeably different strengths and mannerisms. How Dennis could easily break open a door, but two of the girls could prevent Hedwig from getting in by leaning on the door. Or how Patricia winced in a delicate manner after being struck with a chair. He really sold all the different characters to me!

He is so incredible that he makes you forget that he's the same person that plays the other alters. James McAvoy is superb! Also, DID patients are really different as how it is conveyed in the movie. Strength, Intellect, Age, and Personality.

Man, he looks so chill, it makes me feel sad how nobody wanted to see any of his films anymore. Of course, he had many missteps, but Split is definitely a comeback and can't wait to see more of his stuff. M. Night is the living proof that sometimes second chances are worth it.

Just recently saw this movie, and let me just say it left quite a few impressions. The acting was phenomenal along with the plot, but I do have some concerns with how the script plays out the plot. the beginning of the movie was very plot driven and then slowed down for a bit, which always must happen in a good story, but the plot was appearing to the viewer ever so slowly. This created a shock factor when all of a sudden the plot became as driven as humanly possible. Great movie, I just have my cretics.

After watching this movie I think it is sad that people with this disorder have 23 different personalities and how hard it is for them so I think we need to start giving this disorder more awareness it was not Kevin's fault he acted like that 😭 James did such a great job in this film!

Hate HATE Patricia!! GRRRRRR she and Dennis are so manipulative with the legend of the Beast and how the Beast can make the Horde powerful and unstoppable. Hedwig has the ability to take the Light away whenever he wants, and yet he gives it over to Patricia when the kidnapped girls needed him the most! HATE Patricia!

I know this is more than just the monologue ("I swear I was on a bus..." part) you were asking for.. But I figured I'd put the whole scene. I typed this out as best I could based on the audio, forgive me if there are any typos. Kevin: "Who are you? What's happening?" Casey: "Something horrible." Kevin: "What'd I do? Did I hurt you? Dr. Fletcher...? Dr. Fletcher! Who did that?" Casey: "You did." Kevin (and others): "I swear I was on a bus. I don't remember anything after that. I -- is it still September 18th, 2014, right? There's a shotgun I bought... it's in the bottom cabinet hidden behind things. The shells are in my uniform closet out in the service hall. Kill me... kill me. .... Wait wait wait wait wait! Don't do that! No, no, no, don't do that. He can't handle reality. My name's Jade. Has Dr. Fletcher been getting our emails? This is what we have to do. We -- as in 1008, when Anandapala suffered the Shahi's most crushing defeat and Mahmud overran the entirety of the Punjab region, taking the famed temple of Kangra. We have been wronged by this alliance, this Horde, of Patricia, Dennis, and the boy. Their actions do not represent us! They -- are every -- Everybody just take a minute! Ohh, babygirl. They've been stealing control of the Light from me but the group are gonna work through this. Honey, my name is Barry. We -- ....You shouldn't have used the Walkie-Talkies. They almost caught us." Casey: "Stop it, Hedwig." Hedwig (and Patricia): "They were right. Look at you. You're so frightened of us... Dennis and Miss Patricia are in charge because of me! I'm gonna give the Light to them now. No one's allowed to make fun of me anymore! ... Thank you, Hedwig. Everything's fine now." Casey: "Kevin Wendell Crumb!" Patricia: "Kevin is asleep. We've made him sleep far away. You can call his name all you like, dear, but... he's not going to hear you. The Beast has shared with us his dream of a larger group to sustain him. Ten to twelve unworthy young next time. This... is just... the start!"
