That wire keeps the ends of the car together in puzzler mode, you carefully put it around the 2 protrusions on the back of the car when you fold it in half. It keeps the upper body together tightly so the pegs for the arms stay in.

honestly u have to give credit to its design considering that it was during the 80's. Compared to Transformer combiners line Superion, Devastator etc. Puzzler doesn't have extra parts like fists or feet that you needed to attach it into to complete the combined mode.

I know this is ancient, but I think Gobots aren't meant to compete with Transformers. I think they were really meant to blend in with your hot wheels or matchbox cars.

I have had this guy for 25 years. He is in my display case in combined mode and is a great show pieces. Btw, the red one is a Corvette and the blue one is a Nissan 300 ZX. Oddly, one of the Protectobots was also a 300 ZX.

This set was amazing, and hurt like hell when hit by.

Man if a third party company would remake this these days updated it would be awesome. Both of the go bot combiners would be amazing remade and updated.

I hate to nitpick, but you forgot a step on Tic-Tac. There's a little wire loop that rests over his face. Flip that out and slide it over the peg holes that attach to Jigsaw. I've found that holds things together better.

I feel like the reason gobots never caught on like transformers wasnt even because of the toys.......it was because of the shows......compare the difference just in character names alone, transformers characters just had a cooler vibe.

Crossword and Pocket have the indicative transformation that made me hate Gobots in the early days....to me, their transformations just weren't practical (fictional cars, fnarr, fnarr) but having to have the car upend itself then spin around to amount to a bot that was just the vehicle stood up with a face and arms? It just didn't engage the way TFs did.

You didn't put the arm posts into the right spot. There is a notch right above where you have them than will gri the hex post and allow the arm to support itself in a raised position. Look at it from the side and you will see it.

The wire visor around TicTacs face opens up and clicks onto his tailpipes for Puzzlers head. Should help tighten the arm pegs. I just found this set in my childhood toy box. I was trying to remember what transformers they were, and after a few minutes on the interweb learned there true fraction. In fact most of my transformers were gobots. Bah! This was my only complete combiner. I remember having tons of fun with this toy as a kid. Thanks for the review and bringing back good memories!

The way I handled loose parts on Go-Bots? Hordak would routinely capture them from both sides and into the Slime Pit with them! Seriously, after a good sliming, they worked like new for quite a long time. Then when they started slipping again, into the Slime Pit once more!

I loved Go Bots as a kid and I had this set and played with it constantly. I still have it but it's so loose it can't even stand anymore. Thanks for the blast of nostalgia. Now I may have to go pick another one of these up.

have to disagree with you on this review . I had both these lines as a kid and i am a transformer fan but even i had to concede that these gobot combiners are head and shoulders above the ones from the g1 transformers. for one thing 1) none of the generation 1 combiners could combine WITHOUT adding extra parts some where so if you lost the parts (esspecially two critical areas on devestator) you were S.O.L. both Puzzler and Monsterous had head,hands,feat, built in. 2) unlike most transformers combiners these things were di cast. 3)the articualtion on most g1 combiners were just as bad as the go bots. the only ones with decent articulation were superion and abominus 4)why are you comparing an 80's toy with something with modern articulation. if you are going to be fair and accurate in your reviews compare it with g1 combiners. 5) I really hate how transfomer fans keep thinking that go bots transforms are worse than g1 for example you were complaining about how limited the seperation was on the pocket and the other arm guy was well how much leg seperation was there on drag strip or wild rider, or any of the airial bots, or mixmaster , or grove or streetwise at least go bots tried to not to make thier lower legs just one solid block like transformers did on it's toys. and don't even get me started on how complex the jumpstarters or firecons, or battlechargers were.

Just so you know. gobots came out with the toys before the cartoon, that's why the cartoon characters where just like the toys. transformers came out with the cartoon before the toys which is why they are deformed. I'm also pretty sure that gobots came out before transformers because of how there designed. they where awsome toys, I had leader one(The one with a face and not a helmet.) It had more mettle in it then the transformers Optimas prime.

The reason these guys are so boring is because there transformation ont he show is the EXACT same to there toy counterparts, which was always a simple transformation, no parts 'moulded' into other parts like on transformers All parts were the same size and did not grow. Which meant the Transformer figures had to compensate for that, where the Gobots did not.

The only thing that sucked about gobots was the cartoon. for what they are, they are fairly decent. for "simple" transformations, you got 3 out of 6 wrong. For a combining toy of 6 SMALL figures, that did what transformers couldn't do untill many years later.... self contained large robot parts, i think it's pretty awesome. As a toyline, they deserve much more respect, but as a cartoon, with story... Pure and utter shit.
