I used to see this video regularly during my high-school days. Studying abroad was something (Apparently for me) difficult to achieve. Today is my last day in my home country, I’m finally going to study abroad to Europe, immensely grateful for my family’s support. I love you mom & dad, thank you for your presence and commitment.

@@yoursubconscious hey! Well, it has been a memorable 2 weeks so far. Classes haven’t started yet, just a 4-day introductory Math course, and I realised that I am a better English speaker than I thought. When I was meeting new people, it came out naturally as though my mother tongue. The small things that I find hard to adapt to is on the 3 meals thing. The lunch (usually) here consists on a sandwich, and with fair reason, because there’s no much free time to cook or stay through the day. But (now that I have time) I keep cooking some hot meals and for dining, too! It’s weird that I’m not feeling homesick yet. Actually, I’m enjoying being alone most of the mine, and being able to decide what to eat or who to hang out with. I’m pretty sure it won’t be like that in the next few weekends, so I’ll just enjoy the present.

@@marian.german Hey! I’m currently studying in KU Leuven, Belgium. The requirements were quite basic, I only needed to present my High School certificate, my IB Diploma (If you don’t have, you make an exam), and my IELTS Test. Besides that, there are many ‘cheap’ options to choose when it comes to their careers, even cheaper if you’re European; I suggest you looking for universities located in the EU: There are plenty of international students which you will meet and it’s simply fantastic.

please go abroad, seriously makes you much wiser it's insane how much you can learn and experience while being in a foreign place the world is so so big. I'm a high school senior and low income, I've seen so many people talk about expenses and I went out of my way to apply to scholarships I've traveled to 2 countries in high schools and studied there for a bit during my sophomore year and the summer before senior year and I'll be in another country for a few weeks 2nd semester of senior year. I'm first-gen so both of my parents are immigrants so I'm basically doing everything on my own and I have no idea wtf I'm doing. I really hope everyone can experience studying abroad though it is truly so special and unique to each person. Don't let yourself or others stop you from going outside the box.

I missed the opportunity to study abroad when I was in school. So when I graduated, I went abroad to work. I def recommend it, but I think people don't think about culture shock, reverse culture shock, their mental ability to handle it, and the length of time they should stay abroad.
@kylemongan2309
@kylemongan2309 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree. If you cannot study abroad during school, which is a great opportunity for you, traveling after college and during your youth is beneficial for so many reasons. Some people have a very self centered world view, which can lead to this culture shock you are talking about. The mental ability to handle it is beneficial for real life as well. When you are living on your own in a new place and have to figure things out for yourself.

I was rather naive when arrived for my year abroad aged 20. I do think it helped me grow as a person in ways that would never have been conceivable had i stayed home that year. I was forced out of my comfort zone to integrate with the foreigners. Above all i learnt how horrible and manipulative my friend back home was from being outside of that bubble and it gave me the courage to be my own person and sever ties when i returned.

@@nathalie-danielle Hey! Thank you. I didn't ask help because where I am, it's not offered freely and it's extremely expensive. I had to find other ways, sports etc, something to keep my mind off certain things. I am about to finish studies, it was tough but I made it through. I don't regret the experience, but I am glad it's coming to a close :) The lockdowns didn't help. That's where my anxiety really spiked, to the point of panic attacks. I needed to write the comment because it's rarely discussed that studying abroad can be very challenging. But maybe, in the end, the experience that are difficult are most useful.

2023 fall semester study abroad student here that studied art history in Rome Italy. Never will I regret it. I hated the idea of college and was in a low income family and lost my last parent at 18. After an inspiring talk and decided to try college it out… I found out that I wanted to do college, but my way. If you have a dream to travel but saving it for school this is for you. For those in low income… depending on age, and family situation, and your own work, financial aid will help you pay for half or almost the whole trip. Although, it is hard work getting there but NOT impossible. I Graduated high school with a 2.5 GPA and ended up being the top of the class that semester in Italy for the first time ever because it is what I dreamt about. And you find yourself turning dreams in goals into realities. You will look at the world in a different way, and will have you like me watching these videos again doing research on what program I will do next. Dream a dream, turn it into a goal, and make it into a reality. Good luck !

"Higher Education has to fulfill the demand of market" - Can't agree more..I got my master degree abroad and now continuing my PhD abroad as well. In my opinion, obtaining a chance to study abroad is merely about our effort. Particularly how hard our effort is. Money? Well, I'm not coming from wealthy family and I got my master degree and this PhD study by Scholarship. Again it's about our effort to get that. And there are a lot of scholarship out there!. I have tried 8 times of doing scholarships test, 8 times failed. However, it's all priceless once we get it in the end. Not only when we are abroad, but started from the day 1 we decided to prepare ourselves for the test and finally obtaining the degree.

I am 20 right now and after graduating high school it took me two years to start college. My mental health was at it’s worse after high school and I felt really lost not knowing what I want in life. During those two years i began therapy and medication to help my medical health. I honestly felt sorry for myself because all of my peers were already on their 2 year of college while I hadn’t even started. I felt hopeless. Though I am still not sure what exactly I want to do in life something that I’ve always known is that I want to travel and experience the different cultures of the world, meet people all around make beautiful memories. I am now close to finishing my 1st year in college and it has hit me that this is my chance to study abroad or even just take a trip yet, I hold myself back for some reason. I really hope to make these visions come to life. I hate to look back in life when i’m older and regret my actions

I dont know bro, it's like saying: live in poverty for 2 years and then you know how poor people feel.. In the end I think doing what is best for our goals should be the aim.. If you want to work in an international company then definitely do it but if you're a scientist or something like that I think its a waste of energy and also could stop you from evolving in other areas

I respect your opinion on the matter, however, traveling abroad is not a waste of an opportunity, of it is something they truly want. The New York Suny system has it organized to where the average cost of a semester abroad is comparable to the average cost of the semester at the university. This is not breaking the bank for most people already enrolled in a college, and it is truly up to the person and their particular interests.

For the love of God, don't go abroad if you have anxiety/depression problems. I am abroad for 7 month and feel like I am deteriorating rapidly - emotionally, psychologically and even physically. I hope to finish this year and go home for good, if I manage to finish it.
