On one hand, Minami's career change did some out of nowhere... on the other hand, that gives that episode a really potent subtext. Here's this girl from a rich family, whose entire life seems to be mapped out for her, when suddenly she meets an older woman who shows her an entirely new path in life that the girl had never considered, had never known was possible. The woman seems so free and at ease with herself, and it really speaks to something in the girl. She decides she also wants to be free and true to herself, that she wants to become... a marine biologist!

Although, Reika is probably more well known, I actually think Karen (Cure Aqua from Yes) started the whole “I want to be a doctor/I don’t know what to do?” plot point. Just that we didn’t get a whole a lot of other Blues that did something similar until her pseudo sister Cure. Doesn’t ignore the fact that 90% of Blue Cures would do the same thing. (Star Twinkle think they are so slick with Cosmo but Selene exists XD). I thought Minami is still awesome because I felt that her conclusion got some pay off. This part of the review actually reminded me why I love this season’s characters (and the season as a whole) so much: They are actual characters. And even though some, mainly Haruka, probably got more screentime than the others, I don’t feel like the others were left in the dust in their arcs. Something, I can’t say for Homare and Saaya in Hugtto or even worst Elena and Madoka in Star Twinkle. Go! Princess easily has one of the best comeback battle! I love that clip of Perfect Cell’s defeat. Never realized how many Toei villains often fallen like that. It feels so great to watch your videos again after such a long hiatus in your channel. A few volume errors aside, it’s a great review as usual. I’m just glad to discuss my love for the Pretty Cure franchise with you and everyone else here. Much like Haruka herself, never let obstacles like those past few weeks prevent you from doing that, my friend. Excellent review and I so can’t wait for your Toei protagonist video.

The king has returned! It's really great to see your channel back up and running again. What happened to you wasn't your fault at all, and don't think that you have to rush anything out. I can happily wait patiently for whatever you have in store for us. We're just glad to have you back. Go Princess is easily one of the best Precure seasons in terms of its overall quality. From consistently good fight animation, to the plethora of character development, both for the heroes AND villains. I'm eager to revisit the last quarter of this show.

Ah hell frickin YES~ XDDD Rewatching all of this…I’m honestly surprised the 2nd time around. Watching it as a kid, I figured most of the cast have enough screen time and development (yeah Haruka took a little too much but at least in her case, it’s valid and part of the main plot); watching it as an adult…damn. I didn’t expect BOTH SIDES to have character growth, in their own ways…that’s how great this season was. It just sucks that this had to be one of the last season to have THIS MANY great points to go around, not even I can go into full detail. Now with that being said, let’s get to my fave points: - The Fandom wanted Yui to become the 6th ranger instead of Towa - Yup…not gonna lie, I’m still into that. I really wanted her to become the next Cure…but alas, it never happened. Does that ruin her as a character? Of course not. Heck, she’s one of my favorite Precure Helpers in recent memory. She gradually manage to stand up to her own dreams, heck even breaking the despair BY HER OWN FREEWILL at some point, she manages to help out the others without even laying a single fist. That’s how great she is. :3 - The Amnesiac Kanata Arc - the one where the fandom got divisive at the time. yeah…I remember reading an article in Precure Livejournal about this arc. Someone said “Why didn’t Towa be the one to not only help regain her brother’s memories but also spend some quality time with him instead of Haruka?” And I side with them at first because yeah. Why didn’t she joined with him throughout to make up the lost time they had missed? But then I realized what you said: “He has to be with someone he’s more close to” (and the fact that they weren’t in touch for a long while after she was taken by Dyspear as kids)…and that’s where Haruka comes into play. Think about it: since the very beginning, he’s the one who helped her dream in “becoming a princess”…now it’s her turn to return the favor and, in spite of her own despair, she manages to overcome it and they did it pretty well :) - The Return of Close and the Redemption of Lock and Shut - yeah…everyone got shocked upon his comeback. From a rocking joke to a literal threat…THATS how scary he is, especially his close up shots where he goes menacing or really really pissed off. That’s how great he is, as a villain…the other 2 also got great moments as well, thanks to Shamour. Another great point~ - Everything is Important - even them having filler episodes, it felt like everything is part of the main story. Need I say more to this season? X3 Can’t wait to see the last part of this review…and also HBD to one of my favorites Cure Mermaid~ (she needs more attention in the GoPri line. Give her a Tina the Dolphin plushie~~)

My all time favorite season, I always enjoy watching from start to finish

I'm glad you were able to get your channel back after all. Ironic how the season of "don't give up on your dreams" was reviewed at the same time Now this quarter just as Go Pri is really good. Good animation, and character arcs. Some problems were the screentime of Haruka, which compared to other leaders is one of the most equal but just as you said in the first part, it sometime feels like Haruka is the chosen one. The Amnesia... I mean is not that bad but the recovery was a bit too fast, although I'm glad it doesn't affect the plot significantly The villains are great, except for Stop and Freeze which I never really liked, but Close is a great villain, even Shut is an awesome comedy character The secondary characters like Miss Shamour stay prominent and relevant to the point were they're actually memorable. For me Go Pri and Fresh have the best Secondary Cast group in all precure. (Yui Nanase Supremacy 🛐) Looking forward to the next and final part and all the rest of your reviews. This part is definitely remained the best part of Go Princess. The awesome fight scenes, the epic comeback, and the well earned power ups. This part alone made this series all the more worthwhile to the entire franchise, especially after Happiness Charge. Haruka remained to be one of the best pink leads in the franchise, and this part really explains why. Getting to suffer, not because of the villains, but because of her own naivety as well as some delusional thoughts, she managed to accept everything with a firm belief and get back up on her own 2 feet, ways better than the last pink lead. But then again, Happiness Charge wasn't meant to be taken seriously. It is such a shame that it was this series that has gotten the short end of the stick, we'll get to that as because of this, it does impact a lot of the issues with the later Precure series, until Healing Good went to straight things out. The third half is easily one of the best parts of the season. Not just for its end with Haruka's fantastic two parter episode but just for how much it did. Klouse coming back was so badass and makes him far better as a villain especially his new personality change of being more serious while still giving great faces. The girls got some good moments especially Yui and Haruka especially as Towa really got comfortable with the cast in a great way. I will admit you are not wrong it became very Haruka focused but I felt that was fine as what we got was fantastic. Especially the last two episodes. For me I was thinking for awhile that Kanata was gonna come back as a villain especially since it's kinda trope with fiction that stuff like that happens so him coming back with amnesia (one of my favorite tropes btw was fantastic) The heart break from everyone including Towa and Haruka was fantastic and the ability for them to try to help Kanata despite not remembering them was great especially since they didn't force him to get it back. But then the moment he came to Haruka I though okay he's gonna encourage her and allow her to fight back but no...he was a different man with different experiences now and was worried for a friend and yet did the thing that hurt the most. He rejected her dream of being a princess, someone who the episode reminded us was the first to encourage it was now discouraging it and the reaction afterwards is heartbreaking. I have made several connections to Haruka in Princess with Doremi from Doremi and while that is mostly haha silly pink jokes I really mean it here when I say her face of despair is only rivaled by Doremi's in a certain episode I talk about way to much which I hope you get to in the future. The horrifying look in her eyes, the face so blank and lifeless it kills me seeing her like that especially to with a scene you didn't mention when she tired to transform and couldn't. That was so powerful as was the montage of her character interactions and her as child. I just love her getting to see her child self who encourages her and that's what gives her the drive to move forward. Not because of someone rooting for her but because she herself was rooting to become a princess. Then you know one of the best fights in the season with a fantastic vocal track was just the icing on the cake. Overall a very memorable and grand part of the season and I hope the last few are to your liking as well as while I have some issues with the ending I feel it is one of the better I have scene in this series since Smile.

I've been waiting for this also like since precure is now on crunchyroll I think we could get a possible we could get a dub from sentai flimworks but there's a small chance that would happen precure kinda has the winx club curse where the show is extremely popular with english fans but was never able to really reach an american audience but at least winx got dubs but FR glitter force was basically 4 kids in a nutshell

I’ve been waiting for this!

I actually liked the career shift to marine biology, because her parents outright said they wanted a marine biologist on staff. They wanted Asuka to be on staff, but she turned them down. Minami's brother was already running the Hotel anyway, so what would he have done once she was supposed to take over anyway? Also, life is full of moments where you realize you've been stacking points into the wrong stats, I think it's good to teach kids that they can switch careers even if it means a large hurtle to get over with needing to make up for lost time.

As a person fond of Haruka x Kanata but... not that big fan of Kanata himself let me share my take on his amnesia. (long essay incoming) It seemed like not only a cliche but also an unneeded roadblock. It hindered the plot and character progression, every person had to stop what they were doing to tend to Kanata. Makes sense why Towa didn't have that active of a role in this arc, yet we really needed at least one semi-dramatic conversation like the one Haruka and Kanata had on the lake. As for Kanata himself... I expected him here to show more personality than Prince Dios from Revolutionary Girl Utena (I bet my money he was the inspiration). The reason I liked him until his return was (besides the well-done sacrifice) the potential to grow beyond Prince Charming. I mean, he was obviously nerfed because God forbid we have useful magical human sidekicks (cough, Blue, cough) but we could have gotten SOMETHING out of this. At best, and I'm grasping at straws here, he shared his true opinion on Haruka without regarding his princely duties. He enabled Haruka so much mainly because she was needed to restore his kingdom. At that dark forest scene, having forgotten his homeland, he just saw a girl he cared for push herself to the limit so she can become what - a "princess"? Hence, telling her to just stop and take care of herself first. OF course, to Haruka this is devastating, but this is amnesia Kanata being honest. Thankfully, Haruka learned to keep up her dream even if her first supporter was now against her goal. Unfortunately, I would have liked this more if the show focused on it. Imagine if, after the new power-up, they had a talk and Kanata apologized for his "selfish outburst". Keep in mind that his memories have returned so his responsibilities come first yet again. Haruka could thank him instead for sharing his true feelings which pushed her forward. There are some well-drawn doujinshi (nothing lewd) of him joining Haruka's school where even freaking Yuuki became relevant. God damn it, shipping wars aside, these two should have interacted at least ONCE, since Yuuki bullied Haruka for her princess dream while Kanata cheered her on that same day, yet Yuuki was just the tennis dude. Anyway, even from the few available pages, you can tell how much the author took advantage of Kanata's personality and how much it hilariously clashes with Yuuki's. Instead, he kind of stayed as a cardboard cutout, acting as Haruka's catalyst.

The focus on Huruna isn't as much of a problem for me because this is her story. And we never got the sense the others were wanting for screentime or that the writers didn't know what to do with them. Really, this is like HeartCatch, DokiDoki, and Healin Good where the backbone of the story is the character arc of the pink and that's good company to be in. Writers will tell you it's important for your main character to have a "wound" which is some disparity in their life they're seeking to fix. For Tsubomi, it's getting over her shyness and insecurities. For Mana, it's recognizing her helping others can reach a point of compulsion and an escape from the belief it's selfish to care for herself. And for Nodoka, it's overcoming her considering herself a burden on others as well as recovering both physically and mentally from the trauma of an illness. For Haruna, her quest to become a princess is a quest of discovering herself. We'll see the climax of her character arc in the final part, so I won't get into detail. However, that climax works because of the entire series building up to it. Hana gets an honorable mention, but Hugtto wasn't as consistent in building her character arc as these four. I get the sense that Minami always had an interest in marine biology, but kept it secret as she believed it was duty to go into the family business. We'll see in a later episode that she literally dreams of the ocean and its many creatures. So, it might be sudden to us, but it shows how expectations of a family (or the personal belief those expectations exist) can tamp down desires. The skills she has shown would also serve her well as a biologist. I still wish you had "Worthless" from the "Brave Little Toaster" start playing when Haruna blue-screened but that worked better. Still, the series is still proving to be too cool to live. It's a shame we would have to wait five years for Precure to get back to this level of character-driven storytelling and a willingness to be dark when the situation calls for it. Though, I think Healin Good is still not quite up to the level of Go Princess, but really I consider this and HeartCatch to the high bar for the franchise (toy sales be damned).

Been awhile and overall a good review on princess so far with some fair points about its ups and downs despite a few a disagreements but those just come down to preference I suppose. One thing I don't think I can agree on is the Minami and chiyu comparison mostly because my sister kind of had a similar change of careers like Minami where she went from studying medicine to being a legal firm. True story. Where as chiyu while I get what it was doing it would've been amazing I can't help but feel like that its approach to her career choices were between 2 extremes that take too much time and focus for her to really focus on the other. While not a bad message the execution doesn't feel right to me and I'm not exactly big on how the rival girl had to treat chiyus approach to high jump negatively since I haven't seen or met anyone who gets that upset over a rival having other career options in mind while still having fun with a sport
