I'm in the process of setting up a repair channel but it will take time due to work load, so please come & chec us out & we'll show you how to do it right!

loooool ur laugh at the end summurises it. Nicely done Sorin thumb's up. I think the reason why it doesnt turn off it's the 3.3 v that must be there precisely all the time so ur first attempt of putting higher resistance before SIO was the real deal, as u said maybe 1 mega or 1.5 should be fine to make it work perfectly.

Good day Mr. Sorin. Thank you for all of your videos. We'll 1st of all, I can't say it is doggy repair. The customer would have left the laptop and carry on getting a new one. Which would cost him way more then to repair this one. You used your knowledge to bypass a very delicate and difficult keyboard replacement. And guys that keyboard replacement is really pain in the ass type work. I am amazed to see your calculated sense. I thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. SHAON from south africa.

you will still need a voltage divider on the base of the transistor , because it wont turn on on 2.7v so actually sorin way was faster

@@zx8401ztvForgive me for asking 2years later, but don't pnp transistors require negative voltage at the base? Could that even work if the rail only drops to +2.7? I am still learning electronics and am genuinely curious.

13:15 - the term you're looking for is "pull-up resistor" - it keeps the input pin of the microcontroller pulled up to 3.3v, so logic 1, until the button is pressed :)

The trick to holding those resistors with tweezers is not to squeeze it hard due to being afraid of dropping it. The extra pressure squeezes it out of the grip...I use a 760lumen LED bike light/torch and get on my hands and knees to find anything I drop, usually find it quick.

Can you be so kind to explain me how you use the led torch to find such minuscule parts?
@Infiniti25
@Infiniti25 3 жыл бұрын
@@mariodistefano2973 helps if you have a laminate floor or other non-carpeted reflective surface that is relatively clean and dust free. I shine the torch at like 20degree angles to create a large reflected lit area and my eyes are pretty good so I usually find things at 0201 size and above.

Sorin, I'm only a bit concerned by the "longevity" of this kind of repair; since the Power button could get worse contact over time, since there's (maybe) a water damage there inside. If I where you, I would add an external power button to be put in parallel mode with the original one using a couple of wires... But, of course, if there's enough space inside the la ptop casing. Anyway you thought the meaning of "PERSEVERANCE" !!!
