I love and hate that scene. Empty, desolate houses always give me the biggest chills. It just feels like they're haunted by the memories of what used to be. And to see poor Nell dancing with the delusions that the house gave her, all alone, it just made me so sad and spooked. I dunno, it's a hard feeling to describe.

@@fleabaguette9699 this shows are a different type of horror. They are scary, but a deep fear. The fear of loosing your loved ones, or the one of realising you already did. Their family was completely broken, and that house, the worst experience, was the only memory they shared of the huge love they felt for eachother. This show scared me so much, about myself, my life, and how overwhelming love can be.

It is so amazing how they managed to make you appreciate a house that you wanted to be burned down for the entire show, how they managed to include great values and lessons in a horror show. horrors are given bad name due to cheap movies that are based on jumpscares and gore alone, but this, this reminded all of us of the incredible potential that real horror as genre has.

I just watched a Squid Game ep.6 few days ago, and it heavily reminded me of this series, in how much sadness it contained, how I felt for the characters and how the emotiveness suprised me due to the genre expectations. I expected to be scared (Hill house), morbidly thrilled (Squid game ep.6), but I was tearing up, and it was cathartic. Also the beautiful soft piano.

@@user-sl5td9uh7q You're kind of right... But Bly Manor has some logical fallacies. Also first four or five episodes were extremely slow paced. And that alter ego episode of that black lady(forgot the name) was so much repeatitive hence lost it's charm a bit... I would say the last two episodes were superb and without those two episodes Bly Manor is a bluff.... And Hill House and Bly both belong to the same genre... isn't it ? So they're kinda comparable. Also Bly copied the guilt personified as ghost concept of Hill House, could've shown something else instead though...

@@07aniketdeysarkar26 I disagree completely. I find Bly Manor to be an extraordinarily well-crafted example of Gothic Romance, from the perspectives of plot consistency, character development, incorporation of themes and allegories, and the overall execution from the script. The central appeal of the two entries in "The Haunting of..." series so far have not been the ghosts, or the horror factor. It's using the ghost story as a framing device to tell more interesting, character-driven stories. If it didn't tickle your fancy, that's completely fine. But Bly Manor is anything but ordinary, and the creators of the show deserve to be commended for all of the work that went into making the writing on this show so precise and well-executed.

Hill House, not sane, stood by itself against its hills, holding darkness within; it had stood so for eighty years and might stand for eighty more. Within, walls continued upright, bricks met nearly, floors were firm, and doors were sensibly shut; silence lay steadily against the wood and stone of Hill House, and whatever walked there, walked alone.”

The music is so peaceful every time I hear, taking me back to the memories I struggled with, creating a nostalgic-pain experience. The series is no horror but dark, emotional, and sad.

This is music! It gives you this weird sensation. Not good. Not bad. It gives you the creeps yet it satisfies. Maybe it's because of the nostalgia feeling it has. Maybe that's why it feels cold and warm and the same time. Just perfectly splendid for this type of series.

This theme is perfect because it’s emotional, and dramatic, but has that little section that sounds like classic haunted house music. I think it just perfectly captures the spirit (pun intended) of the show. Because… sure… it’s about ghosts… but it’s more about the things that haunt us.

Edit. Just finished bly manor and i guess it was to much to live up to. I did not like this at all and it had maybe one or two jump scares. Just overall not great. Nothing compares to hill house. Disappointing.

@@torc_jakemI know it’s years later, upon rewatch I find myself being kinder to Bly manor. It’s got some incredibly sweet moments and sure it’s messy but it was a tall order to blend together so many disjointed short stories. It’s no hill house for sure, but it’s still so much better than many many other shows out there, especially horror/ghost themed ones.

I remember watching it in my class. I was in 10th grade. Sitting next to my best friend. The whole class was close to each other,it is rare. We were eating and sharing food. And then everything changed because of covid. And now,i lost my best friend. Our classes changed,a lot of them graduated. It is not the same anymore. Whenever i hear that soundtrack,i am in that class next to my best friend, having no stress about university exam or my future. It is like a time machine for me. When music stops, im in the real world again.
