It does work on nails though. Although you don't have to cut it, I keep a file in my tool belt for a lot of different reasons, one is a few swipes on the tips of some collated nails will help prevent spits on things like deck spindles. Whole idea is that instead of wedging the fibers apart it punches right through.

@@definitelynotat-rex72 Most of these "issues" are really just mistakes by the person who did this video. Take the screw that split part of the wood: It was probably sitting at an angle, or it was too close to the edge of the wood (hard to tell, maybe even both lol) The first one, i actually have no fuckin clue what happened. Most i can think off the top of my head would be that the poster switched the direction of the drill while still forcing the screw in. As for the third one, just use the proper parts. It'll last longer and look better. The 4th one, i truly never had to deal with it, it *might* work, but here it hurts that the poster doesnt properly show it, someone who isnt too smart on the subject may try to have both screws be in the middle. And the 5th one, idek. I dont think ive seen that thing before, could be wrong and just didnt see that specific piece. But wtf is OP doing with the wire? Theres a reason for the spaces....

Just keep a candle around instead of putting messy lube on a screw. Rub the candle over the threads a little, the wax works great, and no swelling of the wood fibers or mess. To make it work even better, flame the screw briefly to melt the wax; super easy installation.

By design, Torx head screws resist cam-out better than Phillips head or slot head screws. Whereas the tendency of Phillips drivers to cam out under excessive torque has been listed as a feature preventing damage to the screw-head or driver, Torx heads were designed to prevent cam-out.

For those who can't afford an impact driver: Use a well fitting bit, any play increases the chance of stripping Drill a hole of a smaller diameter than the nail/screw. Make sure the hole isn't too wide or the nail/screw won't hold.

The trick with the oil on the screws helped me a lot when I was repairing our stairs. The thin wood screws always broke off in the steps and then I decided to screw in threaded inserts and the cordless screwdriver could only screw them in completely with a drop of oil on them. I then attached the steps to the insert with M8 screws. Since then not a screw has snapped and if it does happen I can simply unscrew it from the threaded insert in the step. Very good trick with the oil ♥️💪👍
