Prison is obviously a terrible place that rarely "rehabilitates". But in some circumstances, such as his I think it changes people for the better. He used to be so immature and focused on maintaining a gangsta image. It can be the perfect place for true self reflection. And when you locked up being told what to do and how to move, when to eat etc from a guard, completely reduced to a number. It forces you to have extreme gratitude for the simple things in life that you miss and have no access to when imprisoned.
